🌷 GOD IS GOOD

In the early spring of 1938, long before tractors hummed across every field and before electricity reached the farthest farms, there lived a widow named Mrs. Eliza Harper. Her little white farmhouse sat at the edge of a valley where the snow melted slowly and the robins always returned first.

Eliza had known many hard winters, but that year had been the hardest. The coal bin was nearly empty by February, and the pantry shelves looked bare enough to echo. Still, every morning she lit her small kitchen stove, warmed her hands, and whispered the same prayer:

“Help me, Lord Jesus. You have never failed me yet.”

One chilly March morning, she stepped outside to check the clothesline. The air still held winter’s bite, but the sun had a new warmth to it. As she stood there, she noticed something she hadn’t seen in years—
a single green shoot pushing up beside the porch steps.

A tulip.

Her late husband had planted bulbs along that porch the first spring after they married. Most had long since disappeared, but this one—this brave little stem—had survived.

Eliza knelt beside it, touched the tender leaf, and felt tears warm her cheeks.

“Lord,” she whispered, “You remember me.”

That same afternoon, as she was sweeping the kitchen floor, she heard the crunch of wagon wheels on the gravel drive. It was Mr. Thompson, the storekeeper from town.

“Mrs. Harper,” he called, stepping down from his wagon, “we had an overstock of flour and beans at the store. Thought you might be able to use some.”

Behind him were two full sacks of flour, a crate of canned peaches, a bag of potatoes, and a bundle of firewood tied with rope.

Eliza pressed a hand to her heart.
“But I didn’t order anything.”

Mr. Thompson smiled kindly.
“No ma’am. But the Lord put you on someone’s mind.”

When he drove away, Eliza stood on her porch, the tulip at her feet, the sun warming her shoulders, and the goodness of God filling her home like spring air through an open window.

That night, she wrote in her worn journal:

“March 12, 1938 — Today the Lord reminded me that His goodness does not depend on my strength, but on His love. Winter may linger, but God is good, and spring always comes.”

And for the rest of her days, whenever someone felt discouraged, Eliza would smile softly and say:

“Child, don’t you worry. I’ve seen God send tulips through frozen ground.”

🐴💐 Melvina’s Springtime Makeover Mishap

A Funny Melvina Donkey Story — Second Choice

Spring had arrived in Pinebark Valley, and the whole town was buzzing about the Annual Flower Festival. Everyone was decorating wagons, porches, and even bicycles with tulips, daisies, and ribbons.

Everyone… except Melvina.

Melvina the Lone Donkey watched from the fence line, feeling a little left out. She wanted to be part of the festival too — but nobody had asked her to help decorate anything. And Melvina was not the type to wait for an invitation.

So she decided to decorate herself.

First, she wandered over to Mrs. Poppywell’s garden and gently plucked a tulip with her teeth.
Then another.
Then another.

By the time she was done, she had an entire bouquet sticking out of her mane like a flowery mohawk.

Next, she trotted to the church yard where the children had left a basket of ribbons. Melvina stuck her nose in, came up with three ribbons tangled around her ears, and proudly shook her head until they fluttered like flags.

Feeling fabulous, she strutted down Main Street.

People gasped.
Children pointed.
Sister Hattie nearly dropped her lemonade.

“Good heavens!” she cried. “Melvina looks like she fell into a craft store!”

Melvina brayed proudly and kept walking — until a sudden gust of wind blew through town.

The tulips flew off her head.
The ribbons whipped around her ears.
And Melvina, startled, took off running straight through the festival grounds.

She dashed past the pie table.
She zoomed around the quilting booth.
She galloped through the tulip archway, leaving petals swirling behind her like confetti.

Finally, she skidded to a stop in front of the judges’ stand — covered in ribbons, leaves, and exactly one tulip stuck to her tail.

The judges stared.

Then the head judge burst out laughing.

“Well,” he said, wiping his eyes, “I’ve never seen anything like it… but I think we have our winner for Most Creative Spring Display!”

And that’s how Melvina the Lone Donkey became the first — and probably the last — donkey to win a ribbon at the Pinebark Valley Flower Festival..

🙏 Prayer for Trusting God and Abounding in His Work

(Inspired by 1 Corinthians 15:58, Proverbs 3:5–6, and Psalm 37:5 — KJV)

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts that long to trust and hands that long to serve.
Teach us to lean not on our own understanding, but to trust in You with all our heart.
Help us to commit our way unto You, knowing You shall bring it to pass.

When the path feels uncertain, remind us that You are faithful.
When the work feels heavy, remind us that our labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Give us grace to abound — not just to serve, but to serve with joy, with love, and with steadfastness.

Let us be unmovable in our faith, always abounding in Your work,
knowing that every act of kindness, every prayer, every song of praise
is seen by You and used for Your glory.

We trust You, Lord — with our plans, our burdens, our future.
And we thank You for the strength to keep going,
for the peace that passes understanding,
and for the promise that You are working all things together for good.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Thee And Only Thee

Thee and Only Thee

Lord, fill  my heart with your presence;
Holy Word penetrate my essence.
Take away my anxiety;
Speak, for I'm attentive unto thee.

Put a song upon my heartstrings;
Oh what peace, what joy, your Spirit brings.
When we seek thee, when we love thee;
When we worship thee and only thee.

Within this world's tempestuous sea;
Help us keep eyes of faith on thee.
This world is hateful,  unfaithful;
But you dear God,  are unchangeable.

Praise your name your Holy name, dear Lord;
You're still the same, You're still the same.
Put a song upon my heartstrings;
Bring you glory to your holy name.

Lord, fill my heart with your blessing;
As I yield my being, confessing.
You are our strength and you are our stay;
That's why we can rejoice in you each day.

Put a song upon my heartstrings;
Oh what peace, and comfort, your Spirit brings.
When we seek thee, when we love thee;
When we worship thee and only thee.

You Are The Joy Of My World

 Isaiah 52:9
 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

Knowing Joy

We all have different lives.  We have a world in this world, and that world is the world of people we know, places we go, the place we live and what we allow in our lives. Christ is part of my world, and He has given me joy.  I can't say that I'm always joyful, but Christ has taught me to be joyful.  Praising the Lord and meditating upon His Word is a way to restore joy each day. Without him is emptiness like a desert place that never knew joy or can truly know it.  Making Christ the most valuable part of our world comes first by accepting his gift of salvation, which he offers to every man, woman, and child.  Maintaining joy comes through a faithful life of meditation upon His Word, faith, singing, praising, thanksgiving, and prayer. Keeping a clear conscience before God is also very important in maintaining joy.  We can not continue in sin and continue in the joy of the Lord.
God resists the proud who will not humble themselves and turn from sin, but he draws nigh to the humble one, who repents and turns from his sin. Maintaining a good relationship with Christ will enable us to know and live a joyful life.  Though life has sorrows and troubles, like Paul and Silas who were thrown in a cold, dark prison, we too can find joy through our problems.

Day By Day (Prayer)

Day By Day
(Prayer)

Like The Buds Of The Trees;
Like The Blooms Of The Spring;
Let Your Love, Let Your Joy;
Ever Bloom From My Soul-
 Day By Day.

Like The Deer By The Pond;
Like The Breeze In The Sun.
Let Your Light, Let Your Ways
Ever Shine From My Life-
 Day By Day.

Like The Rocks And The Sky;

The Beauty Of Spring

The Beauty Spring

Every little creature;
Every wondrous thing.
From evening skies to sunrise;
When all of nature sings.

Glory to the King of kings.

Glory to the King of kings;
Who formed each living thing.
Who gave us both night and day.
And the beauty of spring....
the beauty of spring.

The daffodils, yellow bright;
The hyacinth so blue.
The sweet scents of the springtime;
After winter is through.

Glory to the King of kings.

Glory to the King of kings;
Who formed each living thing.
Who gave each day a blessing;
And a reason, a wonderful reason,
 to sing.

The fluttering butterfly;
Upon its wings of gold.
The cascading of blossoms;
As they brightly unfold.

Glory to the King of kings.

Glory to the King of kings;
Who formed each living thing.
Who gave a smile from heaven;
When He gave us the spring....
beautiful spring.

Every little creature;
Ev'ry wondrous thing.
Glory to the King of kings;
Thank you God, Thank you God,
Thank you God,
for the spring.

Glory to the King of kings.

Spring Praise Song
Renamed Today 2021

I thought about calling this poem
by a different name: Glory To The King Of Kings
or Splendorous Spring or Beautiful Spring

 1Choronicles
 23:5 Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
 25:3 Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.

2Chronicles
7:6 And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
  20:19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth
 29:30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

 Ezrah
3:10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.

 Psalms
9:1  I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
  33:2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
 109:30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
  111:1 ¶ Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
 147:7 Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
147:20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
 31:7 For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

 Joel
 2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Prayer Of Acknowledgement - Resurrection

Prayer Of Acknowledgement

Father God , we rejoice in you today.
Your love has  lifted from sinking sand-
Those who have trusted in your salvation.
Each lost one, reaching out for your hand.

In their sin, they would have perished in darkness;
But you heard their cry for deliverance.
Your mercy has pulled many from their sin.
Now part of your great inheritance.

How loving you are, our Father above;
You could have let us die in our sins.
But you chose to make a way for us:
To  be sons and daughters through Him. (Jesus)

Jesus, precious hope of all who believe;
Jesus, redeemer, died upon the tree.
Jesus, provider of life eternal:
Jesus, Triumphant, risen indeed.

Praise You Lord Jesus
Amen

Learning to Fly - Devotional

Learning to Fly

This will be the first summer, living here, that a bird couple has raised their babies in the birdhouse that hangs from the maple tree in our front yard.  I can hear them chirping every time I go out to pull weeds.  If I get close to the birdhouse, the mother becomes very upset and makes a lot of noise.  She becomes fearless and will put herself in seemingly dangerous situations to keep her nest safe. Though I would never hurt these precious birds on purpose, she doesn't know it .... She puts up a real ruckus.

Her family is in a very vulnerable situation, she and he may know it, but the babies are oblivious to the danger.  They are so close to the ground that someone or something could just reach out and change their whole world.  I try to be very careful around these little creations of God.  I want them to be successful at raising their family.

I will protect them from interference from predators until the birds learn how to survive on their own.

Soon the little birds will take a leap of faith from the nest and learn how to live their own lives and danger will be nearby until they learn to fly.

In the house of God, we are entrusted with newborn babes who need to be fed milk.  They need special attention until they become strong enough to make wise decisions in a troubled world.  A world that wants to swallow them up into a life of sin and defeat.  As babes n this world, they have not learned to fly, so to speak.  They are in danger of being pulled in many different directions of temptation and falsities.

The Bible teaches us to arm ourselves with the Word of God.  As newborn babies in the Lord Jesus, we need to desire the milk of the Word and learn it well, live it, and love it.  Then by faith, it will be time to
eat the meat of the Word, and in so doing, will learn to fly as mature Christians that can survive the dangers and struggles of life.  Standing strong, through the power of prayer, living by faith, and looking to the Word of God to lead the way in all we do.

1Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Lord Jesus, even as mature Christians, this life can be overwhelming in so many ways, please help us to be good examples in a troublesome world.  Be with the newly born Christians and those that are not yet skilled in the Word.  Keep them in the Way of righteousness and bring them safely to maturity.  Help them to fly....   In The Name Of Christ Jesus, I pray,  Amen.

A Magnificent Orchestra

A  Magnificent Orchestra

I saw the flocking birds of the springs migration arrive.
In the springtime when I  cried unto the Lord;
The sounds of thousands of singing birds filled the morning sky.
It was like the heavens had opened up a door;
I stood and watched as the birds settled upon the forest trees;
The morning breeze was comforting to my soul.
Tears filled my eyes as I  beheld a magnificent orchestra;
It was beautiful and striking to behold.
I felt at that moment that God had given me a gift;
It felt as though God's angels surrounded me.
I felt as though God was right there beside me holding my hand;
Because He wanted to tell me He loved me.

This was something that happened when I was stunned by heartbreak.
I couldn't even fully understand what had hit me.
And felt very confused and very alone.

There are many things God uses to tell us that He loves us.
When we are His children He sometimes gives us something just because.
Sometimes it could be a cookie with sprinkles, or a pork chop,
or a beautiful morning orchestra in the sky.  I used these examples because these are some of the ways God has given me and my family something that had the markings of I love you written all over them.
My next writings  will be the telling of some of these stories.

Cleaning Up Leaves - 2

 Cleaning Up Leaves - 2

 As you know I've been cleaning up the leaves and dry stems  left from the late fall and winter months.  I thought I did a pretty good job but a small storm came through and I realized I still have quite a bit of work to do.  I looked out my window and leaves were everywhere cluttering what i'd already cleaned.

I was thinking about this and thought , you know what?   Our Christian walk is allot like this too.  We think we're doin'  a pretty good job.  But then a storm comes through,  we find out we still have allot more cleanin'  up to do.  I don't know about you.  But every time I turn around I'm learning something else I needed to learn and sometimes I have to learn the same things over again.  Especially during and after the storms of life.  God seems to use these times to show us just how much we need Him and how we better not get too big for our britches.

Blessings Are Blooming

Blessings Are Blooming

Blessings are blooming everywhere;
If we would  just look around.
There's always gloomy in this world;
But blessings can still be found.

Blessings of laughter and of love;
Blessings of generous grace.
Blessings of little ones praying;
Blessings of their smiling face.

Blessings of friends and family;
Blessings of hope through our storm.
Blessings of creatures great and small;
Blessings in so many forms.

Blessings of grace through our hardships;
Blessings of fellowship sweet.
Blessings of beautiful nature;
Blessings of hands and our feet.

Blessings read  from God's holy Word;
Blessings are found in disguise.
Blessings sweet blessings of Jesus.
Blessings in every size.

Blessings of food and fresh water;
Both for our body and soul.
Blessings of being forgiven;
Blessings so many untold.

Blessings are blooming everywhere;
If we would  just look around.
In Jesus blessings unnumbered;
They overflow and abound.

You're Wonderful, So Wonderful

You're Wonderful, So Wonderful

Thank-you for watching over me;
Thank-you for all your love.
Thank-you my Savoir and my friend;
I thank-you now because.

You're wonderful, so wonderful;
You cause my heart to sing.
You're glorious, so glorious;
A shining sparkling spring.

Thank-you for being there for me;
Thank-you for all your care.
I know I can depend on you;
I know that you'll be there.

You're wonderful, so wonderful;
You are my everything;
You are the sunshine in my spring;
You are the song I sing.

Jesus Is Like The Springtime

Jesus Is Like The Springtime

The birds appear to smile and cheer;
Because it’s springtime again.
The sweetness of the new born world;
Is like a comforting friend.

God created the springtime;
And the feeling it gives.
A dormant world in death;
Now becomes a world that lives.

Jesus is like the springtime;
That blooms and grows inside.
He is the friend of comfort;
In whom we can confide.

Jesus is like the springtime;
A  joyful gentle breeze.
That fills our thoughts with hope
That fills our hearts with peace.

Give Only Your Best

Give Only Your Best

In worship, in love;
For our Saviour our Lord.
Expensive perfume;
Upon Him was poured.

Mary so grateful;
She gave of her best,
And down at His feet;
She worshiped and blessed.

Gave of her glory;
Her beautiful hair.
Wiping His feet while;
Disciples were there.

Scolded by Judas;
Who loved silver best,
But Mary, remembered;
Forever was blessed.

Remember this story;
Give best to our Lord.
Our wonderful Jesus;
Should be so adored.

He’s worth more than money;
He’s so worth your time.
He’s worth all your effort;
Don’t give him your grime.

Spend time with the Master;
Down at His feet.
Love Him and please Him;
To Him it is sweet.

Be blessed by our Saviour;
In worship today.
Give only your best;
As you serve Him each day.

Keep The Spring In Your Step

Keep The Spring In Your Step

Springtime is just around the corner;
The birds are singing, hurray!
The days are growing  longer  now;
The flowers are on their way.
There is something about the Spring;
That brings refreshment and glee.
Everything is vibrant and alive;
As far as the eye can see.

God's grand and wonderful creation;
Gives us a new song to sing.
As we look up into the clouds;
And know God's  made everything.

Like the colorful tulips in bloom;
Let our love come shinin' through.
'Cause if Jesus is our number one
It will show in all we do.

Keep singin'  joyfully in song;
And keep the spring in your step.
Because Springtime is beautiful;
And so is a heart well kept.

Springtime has unnumbered treasures:
As does God's inspired Word.
Let our hearts be filled with revival;
Like the life in Springtime stirs.

Busy like a butterfly in flight;
Faithful like the birds that sing.
Let our hearts keep learning more of Him;
Faithful to our Lord and King.

Keep singin'  joyfully in song;
And keep the Spring in your step.
Because Springtime is beautiful;
And so is a heart well kept.
