Show Appreciation

Show  Appreciation

One of the things we are reminded of each fall is to be thankful.
All things that we have, all things we enjoy. every person we love, those that love us, each
good thing we get to experience and learn are gifts from our Father in heaven.

When we are thankful to someone, an action sometimes comes along with being thankful.  The action is called appreciation.
Sometimes we do not realize how much we love something or someone until we don't have them.  Then is when we realize we were not as appreciative as we should have been.

I remember when we moved from our home in Ohio to Oklahoma, after a while I realized  I missed some things I never thought I would.
I missed the smells of the woodsy areas and the sounds of the splashing stream echoing through the hills.  I missed autumn, because I didn't see the beauty of autumn there.  Though there are beautiful sights there, it's not the same.  I missed the taste of our water that flowed from a sweet water stream underground.  I missed the hills and the tall trees that seemed like they were miles high.
Well, God brought us back to a place that has all those things seemingly, right in our own back yard.  In appreciation I put my heart into caring for it, as best  I can.  I thank God for the times I have been able to feel the old familiar feelings of home, the feeling I knew as a kid.

We should always show appreciation for people who love us, like our parents.  We should show appreciation through our actions, a card, a hug, acknowledgement, or just including them in our day.  One way that you can show appreciation to your parents is by obeying them.  When you give your parents a hard time it makes their life harder.  When you obey them, God is pleased with you.  if you see a job around the house that you can help with, do it.  These kind of actions show love and appreciation for your parents. Appreciation is evidence that we are thankful and is something that can be felt.
When someone does something for you just because they care about you, you should always show your appreciation. A person may even do something for you they really don't want to do, but they will do it because they love you.

I think of Jesus, Jesus did something he didn't want to do.

Let's look at this verse:

Matthew 26:39

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

 Jesus didn't want to suffer.  He didn't want to be nailed to the cross.  But he still gave himself willingly, because He loves you and He loves His Father.

It was not some random act of kindness.

 Sometimes we don't want to do something, but we want to, for only one reason:  We love the person we are doing it for or we are showing love to the person we are doing it for.

 When someone has spent their own money, taken special time out for you, they have sacrificed, even if it's the smallest amount.  You should show appreciation, even if it's just taking the time to say two valuable words.

Thank You.

 --------

Lord Jesus, teach us how to be people who appreciate the people you bring into our lives, help us to show our appreciation to the people who love us and the people we love.  Thank-You so much Lord for the kindness to us in giving us wonderful things in life to enjoy, like the beauty of the fall months.  Thank-you for providing us with daily needs and daily love.

In Christ's Name I Pray This,  Amen

In Thanksgiving We Sing To God

In Thanksgiving We Sing To God

 We gather together  today:
To give Him thanks and praise.
Our heavenly Father, our God;
Splendid in all His ways.

Let every tongue speak  clear;
That Jesus is the Way.
Let hearts be opened to the Truth:
And Life spring forth today.

In thanksgiving we sing to God;
In appreciation;
For His love, his guidance each day;
And the light of His salvation.

Let the believers tongue confess;
When God's light, lights their heart.
When they've left their wilderness;
To make Christ their new start.

We gather together to pray;
Giving thanks unto Him.
For the bounty of the Harvest;
For each loved one and friend.

In thanksgiving we sing to God;
 In appreciation;
He is our hope, our corner stone;
Our souls habitation.

Encourage Yourself - Corrections

Encourage Yourself

 Encourage yourself, in  the things of God;
Encourage yourself, in all that's right.
When this world seems like it's upside-down;
The darker the world the brighter the light.

Encourage yourself, In the things of God;
Encourage yourself , be a shining light.
When things  out of control, trouble your soul;
Encourage yourself, keep fighting the fight.

Encourage yourself, in the things of God:
Encourage yourself, because God knows best;
Though you may feel low, your heart downcast;
Speak to yourself in the songs of the blest..

Encourage yourself, in the things of God;
Encourage others along the way;
Making melody  in your heart to God;
Encourage yourself from day to day.

1 Samuel 30:6b
...... but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Listen:

I know I'm not the best singer in the world, but this song could
be taught to children when teaching them about encouragement.

Be An Encourager

Be An Encourager

The bible teaches  us to be encouragers.  An encourager helps people get better at what they do or keeps them going when it would be very easy for them to quit.   Though there aren't many verses in the bible that use the word.   There is one particular verse that sticks out to me.  The bible teaches us, through David's life, to encourage ourselves in the Lord.  David encouraged himself in the things of the Lord.  The more we encourage ourselves in the right direction, the more encouraging we will be to others in their time of need.  I think it's very important that we learn to first encourage ourselves in the things of God.  We then can stand when no one stands with us, but God himself.

People may think you're off your rocker, if they see you speaking to yourself, but the bible clearly tells us to speak to ourselves.  So if you encounter someone speaking to himself or herself, remember Hanna, Hanna was grief stricken over not having a child.  She was accused of being drunk with wine.  But she prayed allowed with tears, in her grief of being childless.  Of all people, It was the Priest who accused her of being drunk.  Instead of being encouraged she was accused.

There will be times in life no one will encourage you, so you'll need to encourage yourself as David did.  David was a singer of hymns, praises and spiritual songs. It was part of his everyday life.  In the book of Ephesians, the bible tells us we are to speak to ourselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs and to make melody in our hearts.  David continued to sing of the Lord and to the Lord even through some of his deepest sorrows.

When we read about Jesus we can find Jesus constantly being an encouragement through his many promises.  His promise of eternal life and forgiveness, His promise of preparing a place for us. His promise of never leaving us.

 Paul was an encourager in some of the things he said, something he asked in Galatians to someone who was discouraged.

Galatians 5:7

Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

 Paul encourages us to continue in faith, continue in brotherly love, continue in the race set before us.

 Barnabas was an encourager, as a matter fact,  his name means "son of encouragement."  He encouraged John Marc when Paul refused to.

Again and again the bible teaches us to be an encouragement to other believers by what is said and by what is done.

God himself encourages us through his presence in our lives as we pray and spend time with him day by day.  That's why we should be faithful in our prayers, song and devotion to him. He gives us strength for our journey, whether be good or bad.

Let us remain faithful in being an encouragement to ourselves and to others.  Keep a good heart attitude.  (Keep Running - Galatians 5:7)

Ephesians 5:19

 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;1 Samuel 30:6b

but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

What A Beautiful Musical Fall - Poem

What A Beautiful Musical Fall

The Autumn months bring pleasure and smiles;
As we remember, how God has blessed.
Both now and throughout our years gone by;
The wonderful things that we love best.

Baskets of apples, of wheat and the crops;
The apple cider that warms our chills.
All of the squirrels collecting for winter;
And the hayride through the pumpkin field .

With colorful leaves in colorful trees;
We thank-God, Give thanks for it all;
For the harvest, for the blessings so loved;
What a beautiful, musical fall.

Then coming down, like an orchestra sound;
The wind and the leaves dance together.
And the smell of baked bread catches our nose;
The fall has such comforting weather.

The pleasantry's of Autumn seem endless;
The corn stalks standing tall in a row.
All the different pumpkins and  gourds;
And the bright mums the harvesters grow.

Then comes a crisp day in the Autumn months
We gather together as night falls.
And sing songs around the bonfire;
What a beautiful, musical fall.

With family and friends who love and bless;
With laughter and life's sweet enjoyment,
Just to be around them brings our lives joy;
Feelings, better than any present.

We will enter His gates with thanksgiving praise;
We will sing of His glory and  his grace.
We will remember the goodness of God;
And rejoice in His glorious ways.

A friend plays his guitar and says "sing along";
We sing along while the crickets call;
With the many sounds of Autumn's night;
What a beautiful, musical fall.

Even In September

Even In September

September has the beginnings of death;
But also new beginnings of life.
Many September flowers  fade away.
But  many are the new sprouts of life.
And if winter holds off long enough;
We will see new blooms again.
Even in September.
-------------------------
Life is always changing and people too.
Some things come to an end.
But God always brings to us something new.
A thought, a goal, a friend.
Sometimes the things we once knew fade away;
And then new things grow.
Hopes and dreams of tomorrows sunshine;
And more of life to know.
Even in September.

Thoughts About Religious Freedom

Thoughts About Religious Freedom

As Christians we believe the Bible and live by the Bible.  We believe God.  We believe in religious freedom.  We believe in raising our children by our own convictions.  For someone to start telling us how to raise our children, when God tells us differently, we have lost freedom.  I do not believe in abusing children, but I do believe in spanking children.  There is a difference.  The Bible tells us if we spare the rod we hate our child.  It does not say spoil, it says, HATE.  Is God a liar that we should not trust His rule?  Anyone who speaks contrary to Biblical teaching or forces us to go against our God given conscience, He has stripped us of freedom men from the past died to give us.
When you tell a child he has more power than his parents, there will be some big, big problems in this country.  When we spank our children it's because we love them and care about what they become.

Proverbs 13:24

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Lord God, You Know

Lord God, You Know

 Lord God you see the hands that weave;
That weave a plot unseen.
Lord God you see  the heart of stone;
Devising evil schemes.

Behind closed doors  they speak  of wars;
in darkness they all hide.
In fear that someone will find out;
The righteous they've defied.

Lord God you know the games they've played;
Upon unwilling souls.
They hurt the servants of the Lord;
And think no one will know.

Lord God you know the worlds unknown;
Beyond the galaxies.
We know one day, you will repay;
There's nothing you can't see.

Faith

Faith

 While my daughter and I were witnessing at a County Fair, a man claiming to be an atheist stopped to talk to my daughter.  He said he didn't believe in having any faith in anything at all.  My daughter tried giving him a couple examples of faith.  One was the wind, we can't see it, but we know it's there because we can feel it and see the effects of it.  The example didn't seem to impact his thinking, but my daughter noticed something.  He kept calling her honey, so it lead my daughter to  realize he must have a daughter.  She asked him if he had a daughter and the man said he did.

God gave her something to say that was a beautiful illustration of faith.  She asked," If your daughter  were to be trapped  in a burning building, yelling for help out a window twenty or thirty feet high." " If you asked her to jump would you want her to believe you?"  He replied, "Why sure I love my daughter and I'd want her to trust me to catch her."  Then my daughter asked, " How would  she know for sure you would catch her?" "What would make her jump from a dangerous thirty feet into your arms?"  The man realized then, she would have to trust him, she would have to have faith in him.
She would have to trust him in order for her life to be saved.

This is an excellent example of the imminent danger of eternal death facing all those who are trapped  and lost in their sins.  Hell is burning every day, but we do not see it's flames, we just know it exists because God tells us about it in his Word.  People die every day, people go to hell every day.  When the bible talks about being saved, God sees the burning flames of hell that are about to swallow them up at the moment of their death.  God doesn't want anyone going to hell.  He loves them and wants them to trust him and knows it will take faith in everything God has promised and as the father calling up to his daughter to jump out of the burning building about to take her life.  She by faith in his love, will jump to be caught safely in his arms.

If a father of this world will love his daughter so, ... Greater yet is the love of our heavenly Father, who longs to pull you to eternal forgiveness  and safety through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:1
For by grace are
ye saved through faith;
 and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God:

A Vicious Spider

A Vicious Spider

I've thought of the wound of the venomous  spider, what a vicious bite it is.  If there was one thing in life it reminds me of, it would be the bite of a gossip.  Someone who takes no thought what one day their words would reap.  There is a difference between a person who practices gossip and a person who has a slip of the tongue. Still yet both can be harmful.  The most vicious of all spiders, if you could call a person a spider, would be a "purpose driven gossip."

James 3:6
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

All Wrapped Up And Wounded

All Wrapped Up And Wounded

This will be the first year in the seven years of tending my gardens here,  that I have had several big spiders building beautiful webs.  I'm not sure what kind of spiders they are , so I've been very  cautious around them.

Though I  think spiders are highly interesting I would not want to be bit by one of them.  A grass spider looks like a brown recluse, so because I cannot tell the difference between the two,  I had to make a decision to kill any spiders that resemble a brown recluse.  I have never been afraid of spiders but have always been interested in learning about them.  God made them and I'm sure there are many things we could still learn and may even find uses for them that have never been  thought of.  Hopefully never the type of discoveries that cause regular people to turn into villains that resemble them.

Some spiders are very poisonous and a bite can turn into a serious wound or even kill a person.  So if a spider happens to be on my person, better believe there will be a reaction.

I think of the time our family was visiting my mother's home.  I was getting into the bathtub and when I sat down a giant spider jumped onto me and  I started screaming  and water was flying everywhere.  Don't worry I got out alive and unbitten, but the bathroom  was soaked  with water.  My husband managed to come in and kill the thing.  Since then I have been more cautious before getting into the bath tub while visiting my mother.

I love the different patterns of the webs the spider weaves.  They are especially beautiful in the morning light with a small amount of dew on the threads.  Some webs are more sticky than other webs.  It depends on the kind of spider the web belongs to.  I have watched  a  spider spin her web,  she stays busy until her masterpiece is done.  Then she sets in the middle and awaits for some unexpecting  fly or other insect to get caught into her sticky web.  Then she will run to wrap it up in her silky threads and there it is in a tomb of silk awaiting to be eaten.

The creepiest thing about  some spiders is that they don't like to eat the crunchy outside part of it's prey.  It likes to suck all the tender juices out of it's victims body and leaves the crunchy part like some people like to leave the crust on their bread.

I'm  reminded of sin when I think of a spider.  She spins a web that traps her victim and the only way out of her trap is by some miracle.  That's why we should never mess with sin.   If you start messing  with its threads,  you're  going to get stuck and it will suck you dry of your spiritual health and abilities.  You will be wounded and possibly not survive but will be all wrapped up in a life of sin.  A life in which  you may never find a way out of . All wrapped up and wounded.

If you have found yourself all wrapped  up in the trap Satan has spun for you and you cannot find a way out... your miracle lives.  Jesus is the miracle you need.  Christ has set many free from the bonds of sin.  God's desire for you is for you to be free from sins hold on your life and be transformed in your heart.  He has provided the way through Calvary.  He will bind your wounds. His Word is the doctor of your soul.  If you have wandered away repent and return to the arms of the Savior through repentance and re-dedication of your life to God.  God is the God of second chances and will be joyous at your return and will welcome you as did the father of the prodigal Son.  He never stopped loving him and never stopped wanting him to return home.

Luke.9:11
 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

He's Watching Over You

He's Watching Over You

 He feels the tears from your heart;
He's  watching over you.
Even when the world seems dark;
His love will hold you through.

He's all around you, shining on;
He's watching over you.
He's carried you midst  the storm;
We see Jesus in you.

We may not know the reasons;
But we know Jesus knows.
They must be eternal ones;
We may not ever know.

He knows the heartache you feel;
He's watching over you.
But we know, God's love is real;
His love will hold you through.

He's all around you, shining on;
He's watching over you.
Without a doubt, you must press on;
We see Jesus in you.

Today, Always, Forevermore

Today, Always, Forevermore

 Praise you Lord;
Praise your name;
Let your light shine;
In clouds of rain.

Praise you Lord;
Above all names;
May your glory;
Our lives proclaim.

Praise you Lord;
Today, Always.
May your presence;
Bless us today.

Praise your name;
Oh Holy one.
Praise you Father;
For your dear Son.

Praise your name;
From earth, to sky.
Your love so grand;
Brought you to die;

Praise you Lord;
For love so true.
A sacrifice;
The love was you.

Praise you Lord;
Thank-you Lord;
Today, Always;
Forevermore.
