Happenings For Today

 Month Of August 2018

Week 1:

July30th
Monday: I saw two Monarch butterflies in my garden today.

July 31st Tuesday: I received a thank -you card from someone I do not know. ...

....Something is happening to my new plants.  I'm thinking it's a groundhog or a deer.  I can't seem to catch sight of it.

August 1st
Wednesday: I spent the day with my daughter and my grandbaby at the Cleveland zoo. We decided to start at the end first because we rarely make it to the end.  Next time we will start at the beginning.
We had a great day.

...They had a beautiful display of Oriental lantern Characters. It is a huge display, that goes on throughout the Month of August.  They are opening the doors at night to light up all the lanterns.

....On our way home, we saw a man wearing handcuffs and two police officers, but they uncuffed him.  I took a picture.
                     (It was unusual.)

Thursday: I felt thankful today to God that my eyes were corrected when I was young.  I felt thankful for my eyesight.

Friday: I saw a small oriental lady pull in my neighbor's driveway and sit there waiting.  I was watering my flowers.  I tried waving, she wouldn't wave back.  (It was unusual.)

I went to the nursing home in Hinkley, listened to a message I've often heard and it was true. I learned a few things I didn't know.
I operated the boom box for the hymns.

....My husband and I took a long ride into the Amish country. We were in our convertible, the Amish seem to like that fact that it is an open vehicle. They actually could look down inside the car from their buggy.  The older mom seemed to really enjoy it.  It made me laugh.

....My husband bought me new plants for my garden.  Two hibiscuses that cost just under $17.00 each and one Blackeyed Susan.  The lady at the counter would not even acknowledge me - she looked at him, told him to have a good day and seemed to ignore me.  She seemed irritated.  It seemed she was irritated over us buying expensive plants.  I guess I feel this way because- I have felt that people have been looking into our spending. It's nobodies business, gardening is something I do.  My husband has a job, we pay our tithes, we have given to missions faithfully and sacrificially. Our family does the same. We've been honest and true.   If we want to buy 10 plants it's nobodies business.

Saturday:
First of all, I would like to say on Friday after leaving my home for a while...I noticed a missing marigold in my heart garden.  It was missing from the center of a group of marigolds I planted.  The removal left a hole.  I replaced it with another smaller marigold.   Well, today another one has come up missing from the center, but from a potted plant that I have never removed since purchasing it in the spring. It also left an open hole in the center. I find it hard to believe it's an animal because animals hate them.  Several times I have noticed centers removed from our hostas but I thought I was just going crazy.   I feel like it is a constant thing that is happening, it has caused me more work and has caused me to feel weary.
I'm able to replace the missing marigolds because I have grown some from seed. I don't want to accuse anyone, but this is a mystery as to why this keeps happening.  I'm sure there are other missing marigolds but I couldn't prove it with a hole, but rather I notice some of my groups of marigold have grown smaller.

Sunday:
Six people missed our church service...One from depression, One husband, and his wife because the husband is in pain, and one because his sister had a terrible stroke. The other two were my Son In law and my daughter.  They were delayed because of numerous detours in Canada and ended up in Pennsylvania.  They found a place to stay the night and went to a church there.  They returned home Sunday night and we had Bible study then enjoyed hearing about their trip.

Week 2 :

August 6th
Monday:
I received a thank-you card in the mail from a dear faithful lady, from another church.

.....I think there is a dog peeing in my front garden.  Something is killing my marigolds. This has been happening for a while..It is consistent.  I've had to remove dead plants and have planted new ones in there place.  Now I have to do it again.  It also looks as though something has been pulling around on my hibiscus plant.  I hope it does not disturb the roots... It has taken a while for it to be as large and beautiful as it is.

Tuesday:
..... It is official, I'm scheduled to work at one of the "Wayne County Fair" booths for two nights.

My Morning Glories were beautiful this morning and the Rose of Sharon's were blooming more but not quite as much as they will be.

Wednesday:
.....My daughter, my granddaughter and I visited with an elderly couple from our church. They are up in their late eighties (pretty healthy.) except the husband's having lots of hip and leg pain.   We met their daughter, who lost her husband to cancer.  She owns a family camp ( hiking, fishing, nature) that rents out trailers and campers. We met her friend from Switzerland that came with her to visit his girlfriend.    We prayed with the elderly couple before we left.
.....We saw an eight-point buck and two does on the side of the road today on our way to Brecksville.
.....We went to a garage sale in Brecksville.  I bought thread, rhinestones, and other sewing supplies.
.....Got the okay on starting Weight Watchers on Monday.
.....I forgot to mention yesterday, that I found a golden beadle on a Morning Glory leaf.  I put it in a baggy and sat it on the counter to show my husband.  My husband found the baggy and put it in the drawer where we keep the baggies.  I didn't know He did this til later.  I packed his lunch like I do, every morning.  Without knowing, I pulled out the baggy, as I always do.  I put his sandwich in the baggy along with all his other food.  Then lunch time came around and He called me.  He discovered the gold beadle on his sandwich.  I couldn't believe it.  I thought I threw the thing in the trash.  Then He told me He put what He thought was a clean baggy back in the drawer.  Thank the Lord! he didn't eat the thing.  I told him to ask me next time if he finds an empty baggie on the counter before putting it in the drawer.

Thursday:
I went garage selling today.  I was at the first sale at 7:00am in the morning...they let me in early.  I was the first one there and found some beautiful clothes for my granddaughter.  Next garage sale, the young mother was speaking to an older lady, She said it wasn't any bodies business what was in her garage.  So she brought everything outside for her sale.  She said, someone had stolen something from them before and that she learned her lesson.  I went to another sale...It was the second week for their sale.  I noticed two bags full of fleece.  Both bags were from (Jo-annes Fabrics). The same thing happened at another Garage Sale several weeks ago.  New fleece in a Jo-annes Fabric bag. The receipt was still in the bag.  They paid $25.00 in 2004.  I paid $6.00 for both bags of new fleece.  I'm writing this because I thought it was unusual and it was a deal - for "Grandmas Blankets."  winter blankets.
.....Went to Acme to buy a snack..I didn't eat breakfast.  Lady at the checkout said something strange.
She put my two items in the bag, then said something about me learning her method.  Odd.  I picked my granddaughter at 11:30am.
.....I babysat my granddaughter all afternoon.
Friday:
I went garage selling today with my husband. .
....We stopped at our neighbor's who live up the street.  I remembered afterward I've talked to the girl before.   She was the teacher I talked to a few years ago at the park..she was the one I felt knew about something that was in a scrapbook of mine from teen childhood.   I've thought about this and wondered if she was the young girl I saw at the park years before that... If it was, she has changed quite a bit. I remember seeing her with a man..I thought He was a relative or something.  I remember the man stopping and looking at me strangely. She looked at me too, like they were trying to tell me something. I dared not ask.. just kept on walking.  It was kind of odd.
... The other thing I found interesting was, Her and her family are die-hard Massillon Tiger Fans.
...I noticed they were selling an afghan for $35.00.  It's the first time I've ever seen an afghan selling for that price at a garage sale.  I thought it was interesting because I was able to raise $38.00 not long ago- by having a drawing. People who donated a dollar to "Grandmas Blankets" put their name in a drawing for a really nice afghan. (blanket).
Saturday:
Went for a ride in the Amish Country with my husband. He bought us each an ice cream cone.
( Writing More Here Later)
Sunday:
Read "Do Ya Wanna Know What I'm Doing?" The main verse was (1st Corinthians 6:20)My writing matched my husband's sermon.  It made me know God is blessing my writing.  ( More Here Later)

Week 3:
August 13th
Monday:
I joined weight watchers today, but not the way I expected to.  I was early, so I thought.  I sat in the parking lot of" The Chapel" for a half an hour, to figure out they were meeting somewhere else.  I called weight watchers and joined by phone.  So tomorrow, I will start counting my points (calories).
-.....I watched Anna for a very short time while my daughter went to get an oil change.
....My husbands back is out, he's had a lot of pain, but he toughed it out on the golf course.

Weeks: 3-4
I have lost track of my days but I'm leaving a summary of my memories for the last days of this week.  They will not be in order.
-Anna started running in circles this week- I ran with her.  I was able to get some exercise with her.
-Anna calls me Gammall.
-I lost 6.6 lbs
-The Zinnias I planted seem like they will bloom before frost.  I got a late start for them this year, but I'm considering it an experiment.
--- I have discovered I can still have a large cone of peanut butter crunch ice cream, once a week, and still lose weight.
--- Massillon Tigers won the game on Friday night, but I wasn't feeling well, my eyes were hurting from sinus pressure, so I could barely see, but I made the best of it.  I enjoyed that Anna had a great time.  They honored the Police Officers that were shot in Westerville.  (Morelli, who was a Massillon Tiger.)  My husband and I were able to talk to His parents and his wife.  I really wasn't wanting to go to the game at first, but I'm glad I did.
---I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting, I ran into somebody I knew there and met a lot of nice people. I enjoyed myself.
---I'm sad to know we may be losing some people at our church.
---I've been feeling hurt by something I will not write here..I just need prayer.  We all need prayer.
---I helped at the nursing home and read one of my poems.  I stopped at some garage sales on my way home.  I found a large ceramic tiger along with other cool things. I also found a garden nursery I lovvve!  on my way home and wished I brought more money with me.

I may be writing more here- If I think of anything else I want to write---
