Fill Our Hearts With Praise

  Fill Our Hearts With Praise

In every moment;
In every day.
In every thought;
In every way.
Let us live gratefully;
For all He has done.
Let us live righteously.
In Jesus, God's Son.
Let us live prayerfully;
In mind and in word.
Let us live hopefully;
In spirit be stirred.
Lord help us give you praise;
Lord help us today.
To do everything;
In your holy way.
Because you are worthy;
Of all of our praise.
Because you are holy;
The ancient of days.
In every moment;
In every day.
In every thought;
Fill our hearts with praise.

For Our Children We Cry - updated after Obama's Speech

For Our Children We Cry

God has given us freedom;
Freedom to live in Him.
But He does not give freedom;
For us to live in sin.

Men have died and men have cried;
For freedoms now denied.
Sin resides and will not hide;
For our children we cry.

God says protect, not neglect.
There little hearts from harm.
But sin has reigned and profaned;
And left our children unarmed.

Return to God, leave sins sod;
Lest America die.
If we repent with knees bent;
God's mercy will apply.

after Obama's Speech:

I would like to let you know that when I wrote this poem it was and is about the spiritual battle of heart and soul.

In this poem when I wrote the quote "our children unarmed"  it means without scripture and moral teachings.  Teaching that guides our children to follow the ways of God.

God's Word helps arm our children against teachings that are damaging to them, our homes and our country.

Our children need Jesus.  I do not believe in arming children with guns.  I believe in arming our children with truth.

 I do believe in owning guns as Americans
but not in the hands of children.

God teaches the way of blessing to America through these Verses verse

2Choronicles 7:14
 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
 Deuteronomy 11:27-28b
 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD

He Made All - Song June 30th, 2013

 He Made All

We know our maker planned each thing;
For He is God, creator King.
We know He's more than wonderful;
And we know He's more than able.

When the stars twinkle in the sky;
When the wind blows blissfully by.
When the raindrops come splashing down;
When this old world spins around.

When the morning birds sweetly sing;
When morning dew is glittering.
When the sunshine greets with a smile;
When towering trees stand a mile.

We know without a doubt He's God;
When blows the storms with lightning rods.
When infants sweet sway in our arms;
When love has sheltered them from harm.

We know our God is powerful;
Still He created the graceful;
Like twirling seeds that dance from trees;
Each time there is a tiny breeze.

Like poppies that are colorful;
With differences so beautiful.
Like dragonflies with wings that shine;
Upon the pond where frogs all line.

Our God is good, our God is great;
He's always perfect never late.
Our God so grand, in whom we trust.
He made all - including us.

Smoking Cigarettes June 25th, 2013

Smoking Cigarettes
Both of my parents were smokers and so were the majority of my family members.  I started smoking when I was a tween along with many other older teenagers.   I thought it was a very cool grownup thing to do.   I smoked until I was 27 years old.

When my baby was born I wouldn’t smoke in our house because I didn’t want my baby to be affected by breathing in cigarette smoke.  I went faithfully to church and even taught Sunday School as a smoker.  I smoked teaching only for about 6 months after I started teaching.   I was ashamed of smoking.  I tried hiding the fact that I smoked but it is something that is very hard to hide.  I didn’t lie about it I just didn’t tell anyone.
I remember praying numerous times to the Lord to help me stop, but still, I could not quit.  One day when my child became older she walked into the garage where I was smoking.  I knew that if I didn’t quit it would affect my child’s whole life.  That morning I prayed to the Lord. “ Lord, help me stop smoking because if you don’t Lord, I will smoke until the day I die.”   Like a miracle,  I never smoked again even to this day.  The one thing that helped me when I wanted a cigarette was the breathing exercises I learned from the birthing classes I attended before my daughter was born.   No one told me to do the breathing exercises to relieve the desire to smoke, I just did it and it helped.  I’ve shared with other people about this breathing exercise idea for helping smokers stop smoking for many years.   I know God delivered me from smoking but He also put in my heart to breathe if I felt an erg to smoke again.

A week after I was delivered from smoking I received a free carton of cigarettes in my mailbox.  I immediately ran water over the carton and threw it into the trashcan. I believed it was a temptation from satan.   That was over twenty years ago.

I thank God every day that I do not smoke because number one it stinks, number two it destroys belongings, and number three it makes people sick.  I can’t hardly tolerate being around smoking because it makes both me and my daughter feel sick and especially my daughter who sometimes has asthma attacks.

Move Our Hearts To Sing

Move Our Hearts To Sing

Glorious;
 You are so glorious.
Morning star;
Who came to die for us.
Loving Lord;
Fill our lives with your joy;
Your love shine;
In every girl and boy.
Holy God;
Most high power divine.
You've held us;
With a love that is kind.
Heavenly;
Are all your perfect ways.
Praise you Lord;
You are worthy of praise.
Rescuer;
Of lost souls perishing.
Let your peace;
Move our hearts to sing.

My Brother

 My Brother

 One year for Christmas all I wanted was a racecar track set.  I wanted the one that had hoops that  I could actually pretend to put gasoline into when the battery ran low.  I absolutely loved playing with the racecars even though I was and am all girl.   My brother made sure I had the best racecar track ever.  He helped me put it together and we played racecars together that Christmas and that is one of my fondest memories of my brother.  My brother was my very best friend at that time of my life.  I thought if he weren't my brother I'd want to grow up and marry him even though I knew that wouldn't ever happen..
My brother was so protective over me that he went and punched some other boy in the nose for saying nasty things to me that I'd never heard before.   Even though I didn't want my brother hitting anyone,  I felt loved by my brother because I was important to him.
My brother was seven years older than me, so sometimes I would get on his nerves and sometimes he would get on mine.  I still loved him and I still do love him even though I haven't seen him for a very long time.

My Granddaddy And My Dad

 My Granddaddy And My Dad

 My grandmother, on my daddy's side,  became pregnant soon after their marriage.  My grandfather died in the coal mines .  He was crushed by a huge piece of slate that fell on top of him.  My grandmother was still pregnant and my dad was born with no father.  My grandmother soon married again to a man name Joseph.  Joseph was the only father my dad ever knew and  he never once treated him different than any of his other children .  My granddaddy loved him just as much.  I know that because I know my granddaddy loved each one of us grandchildren.  My grandparents would have us all pile up in the old station wagon and  would take us swimming at the creek.

My grandfather was a very handsome man with a tall skinny build and he wore glasses. He was a very hardworking man that believed in taking care of his family.  When He came home from work he was tired,  so he would stretch his back out on the floor waiting for supper to get ready.   I can remember us kids  jumping on top of granddaddy giggling and He loved every minute of it.

My dad had become ill with polio when he was young,  so my dad always walked around with a limp because one leg was shorter than other, but my dad never seemed to stop working.  My dad liked to take apart things to see how they worked and then he would put them back together again.  He was a tool guy and He could fix any car.  His hands were always dirty looking even when they were clean  and I liked it because I knew my daddy was a hard worker and I was proud of him.  My dad always told us good morning in a very cheerful way and He loved to hear us girls just chatter away like little girls usually do.

One of my fondest memories with my dad was when we sat on the front porch swing and he would listen to me sing.  My daddy didn't go to church, but on an occasion, but he did go later on in life.  My daddy sat close beside me,  there as I sang the children's song.  "Come Into My Heart Lord Jesus".   along with the other songs I had learned in Sunday School.

Crossed Eyes

 Crossed Eyes

When I get tired most people who know me well, know that when I get really tired my eye has the tendency to lean slightly to one side.  When I was around three years of age my mother noticed I had  problems with my eyes.  She took me to the doctor and He said I would need a surgery to straighten my eyes  and it needed to be done at a very early age or it would be too late.  My mother  sat up a surgery date, which was at five years old, and when the day came I was very afraid.  My mother sat by my bed as I told her how afraid I was and she sat up with me playing paper dolls.  I guess I fell off to sleep and the next thing I knew I became conscious in the surgery room long enough to think they were stealing my eyeballs.  I couldn't move or anything,  I was just conscious  enough to be aware.  After surgery I woke up in my bed and became very alarmed. Then my mother held me tight and tried to comfort me, but I was screaming because I thought I was blind and I kept screaming over and over again " they stole my eyeballs, they stole my eyeballs,  and panicked enough to start swinging my fists as my mother held me in her arms. I hit her in my panic as though I were drowning. My mother told me later in life that I had hit her until my mother had black and blue marks, because she would not let me put my hands to my face but I managed to get my hands to my face and ripped those bandages of my eyes.  Then a calmness came over my little body because I could see.  I said, "then with joy.  I see two mommy's,  I see two daddies and two nurses walking down the hall. "   I could see two of everything.

I had to wear a patch over one of my eyes along with my cat eye glasses.  I hated those glasses I hid numerous pares.  I hid them in the sand, I hid them in the hamper.  I remember waking one morning and I hunted for my glasses and couldn't find them.  I became very frightened because I had a bad dream that a hand came out of a box and took my glasses.  So then my glasses became very important because I couldn't understand where they were and I was scared because all I could see was that hand taking my glasses.

My mother  later found my glasses in a flower arrangement that was placed in a bowl that was held up by cherubs.  None of us knew for sure how they got there.  So my parents believed I was sleepwalking.
I praise God my eyes are both looking in the same direction and thanks to the doctors that made sure they did a job that has lasted still to this day.  Because I can see and I can see straight.

Bike Wreck - June 19th, 2013

Bike Wreck

When I was around ten years of age my brother bought me my first bike for Christmas.  I was a heavy little girl at that age and wore glasses.  I never really rode the bike often because our roads had lots of steep hills to ride down and I was always fearful of losing control of the bike and crashing.  Well one day, I was riding down the steepest hill right off our street and the breaks would not work.

I remember trying to scream and it felt like a whisper coming from my lips as I thought I would die because I did fly down that hill and crashed into our car in our driveway below that road.   I thought no one would hear me scream because to me it seemed like a whisper but that whisper could be heard all over our street.

I got up from that bike not feeling one pain because I was in shock.  My knees were completely skinned, one deeply and I have scars on them today.  My mother came running and my brothers and sisters.  They showed love and concern, but I never cried, I never sighed until I felt sweat on my brow.  I lifted my hand to brush away the sweat and when I looked  at my hand I realized my whole head and body were covered in blood, the blood flowing from a wound on my head.    Then I cried hysterically and panic caused my body to shake. Then  I later discovered my front  tooth had been chipped.

My mother took me to the doctor and He put the stitches in my head and huge bandages on my knees.

Then later my mother took me to the dentist who fixed my tooth with a fill.  That dentist did the best job ever because that fill lasted up into my thirties and no person, other than my family and dentist,  ever knew my tooth had been chipped.

I had just learned how to ride my bike and after that I really didn't care about riding it again.  However I did own a bike in my thirties and would ride it as long as I didn't have to ride down any super steep hills.

Grandma And Great Grandma Mom

 Grandma And Great Grandma Mom

My mother told me on the day of my birth they handed her the wrong baby.  It seems I nearly got switched at birth.  It's a very scary thing to think you could of grown up with the wrong family all your life and never really knew.  I often thought to myself , "was she so sure that she got the right baby."   Then I would look in the mirror and see my grandmother in my own smile and I then I knew I came from the Pennington Family.  Everyone that I talked to my whole childhood would say,  " You look so much like your grandmother Clara. "  I was the only grandchild that had that much resemblance to her.   My grandmother was a very beautiful woman but in her younger years had a long slender body.  I  was never built like her because I  always had bigger limbs.  Her arms and legs were very skinny.

My grandmother was a teacher,  as a matter fact my family had  many teachers in the Pennington family and they nearly all were talented  musically.  She took me to church when I was little and I would sing my heart out and she would always brag about how good I could sing.  Though now I know I never really could sing that well, but it did encourage me to love singing.   She had ten brothers and sisters, my great aunts and uncles who I have very fond memories of,  but  I don't think I ever met them all.

My great grandmother was a very tiny woman and lived very near to one-hundred years.  She was a mountain woman .  She farmed and took care of the cows and chickens.  She could jump a fence in her eighties to chase down the cows and still fixed a really big breakfast - eggs, bacon, biscuit, fried potatoes, pancakes  and she still stayed skinny.

Some of my best memories as a child was visiting our Great Grandma Mom,  running around  the farmland and looking at her beautiful flowers, chasin' a chicken just because it was fun or findin, a red spotted lizard under a rock and gettin, all excited about it.   That's the kind of things I enjoyed when I was little.
 I remember a day when I was very young, may-be it was even on that old farm,  I looked up at the sky and saw the rolling clouds and the sun beams shining through, I said in my heart,  " There must be a God because no man can make that."  That is my earliest memory of realizing God existed.

No Running Water

No Running Water

Our family moved from Baltimore to the hills of Wva. when I was very young.  We lived with my dad's parents, our grandparents.  They lived in a very small town that had a school that had closed down, a general store and a post office.  With a population of 70 people.  The general store eventually closed down.  We all stayed in our own little world living a simple life.  We had well water,  but we couldn't drink it, because it was red water -  so we would drive down the mountain and  haul water from the mountain springs.  We enjoyed these times because us kids would take off our shoes and play in the water below the water fall coming from the mountain spring.  Our dad filled big barrels on the back of the truck with water and we would fill milk jugs.  We would save all of our milk jugs ahead of time and fill each one with water and put them on the back of Dad's truck.  This water was used for drinking and cooking.  One thing everyone needs is good clean water.
   We would take a bath in the water they caught in barrels that held our rain water.  We called them rain barrels.  They would heat the water up and us kids would take baths in the big round tin tub right in the kitchen, dining area, not while anyone was dining of course.
W.Va.  was our first experience living with an outhouse.   My biggest fear at that time was finding a copper head in the outhouse or a copper head biting my rear end  when I sat down on the big stinky hole.  I was just a little thing then and that hole was the scariest place in the world to me.   There was one thing we would never do, at least - I wouldn't.  We wouldn't go out to the outhouse at night and especially in the winter or we'd  freeze our fannies off.  So we kept what Grandma called,  the stink pot inside the house and we would use the stink pot in the night time and then grandma or mom would empty the pot into the outhouse during  the daytime.   Though we didn't have running water at that time.  Those times were some of the best times as a kid, because it was kind of fun being a little scared when we would have to go to the outhouse because we would laugh even when we were afraid.  I can almost hear myself saying to my sister.  "I hope there's  no copper heads in there."  So we'd open the door and we  poke our heads inside and when we saw the coast was clear.  One of us would go in while the other one watched the door.   I don't know why we were afraid but I'm sure it was because of all of the adventure stories our Granddaddy told us about snakes and the outhouse.
I thank the Lord for clean water to drink and that I don't have to venture outside to go to the bathroom unless we go on a camping trip.

Ace - Found His Way Home

Ace - Found His Way Home

When I was a little girl, we had a black cat named Ace.  Ace would sometimes sneak into the house and steal a fish or some other kind of food off of our counter.   Then we would all react by chasing him out the front door.

One day for some reason,  I do not remember, we had to move to our other Grandmas house and for some reason, our family left Ace behind.  Maybe we couldn't find Ace when the time came to leave or maybe he just wasn't ready, anyway, I can remember that we cried because we thought we would never see Ace again.  Grandma and Grandpa's house was around a 25 minutes drive away from our other Grandma's house, but when you are little that seems like a long time.

My Grandma and Grandpa lived on a hill with winding roads that took quite a while to walk up.  I can remember a few times we kids walked up the hill and it became very tiring.  I remember my legs hurting for days from the sore muscles.

One day, while we were playing outside a very surprising thing happened.  We looked up to see Ace walking into the driveway of my Grandma's house and we exclaimed, " Look! It's Ace! " and all of us kids ran to pet Ace and love on him.  Ace had never been at our Grandmas home before, but somehow that cat had walked what was a 25-minute drive to a house that he had never seen before just to find us. I've often
en wondered why a cat would go to all that trouble just to find us.  I've always heard that a dog has feelings and that a dog would search for His owners, but cats usually don't work that way, but Ace just plain loved us and that was that.  Then Ace made up his mind and he somehow did what was seemingly impossible for a cat to do.  He came home.  Because home was us.

A story that can be used in a lesson about love, coming back to the church family,  finding the way back to God, or not getting left behind.

Jesus Is Praying - (Song)

Jesus Is Praying

Under the wings of the angels;
are bottles of many  tears.
Tears that have been shed  for our  loved ones;
for so many seeking years.
Carried away into the heavens;
and laid at our Saviors feet.
Each prayer is heard by the Savior;
Who prays by the mercy seat.
Jesus is praying-
 right there  by His throne.
Jesus is praying -
 your never alone.
Jesus is list'ning-
To each word with care;
Jesus is loving-
While He's praying there.
Angels are stirred by each prayer heard;
And they minister to each soul.
Who cries by the bed, bowing their head;
And hovers there to console.
Jesus comforts the children of God;
His Spirit shines in their heart;
Though angels have trod, sent by our God;
His Spirit will never depart.

Notice -

Today I would like to make a statement that I thought was very clear before.  I do not support the gay cause and I do not want any of my writings to support this type of sin towards God.  I have reason to believe the gay movement has used my material in very subtle ways to promote gay activity. In a very wide range of ways on both television and radio.   Especially in taking advantage of my poem "Colors Of Blessing."   None of my immediate family members support homosexuality.  We do believe that God can pull a person from this type of sin and we believe in telling the truth in love.  I do not promote hate, but I do believe this has been an infringement on my rights as an American citizen.

Hand In Hand - June 14th 2013

 Family unity

Hand in Hand

A father watches over His children;
Just as God watches over men.
He wants what's best, because he wants them blest;
So he shelters them from life's sin.

This father of three felt so alone;
He thought in His heart, help me Lord.
He looked to the side and then He spied;
A place to restore, three children bored.

Before it got dark, they went to the park;
A fun day of no cost to do;
He watches them splash in the sparkling stream;
He laughs and has some fun too.

He felt kind of sad, and even felt mad;
Because His pockets were empty.
Then His eldest said, as she grasped His hand;
Don't worry, it will be okay daddy.

He fell to His knees and He hugged all three;
He cried, as they prayed together.
He said no matter what happens in life;
Be true to Christ Jesus forever.

They walked hand in hand into the sun;
With love overflowing inside.
Happy Father's day the little one said;
As He drew to His Daddy's  side.

Happy father's day, the other two chimed;
Thank-you daddy, for all of the fun.
They gave each other strength with God's grace;
And they disappeared into the sun.

This is a fictional story poem:
 about a young family trying to survive after the death of
the mother.  The father finds something to get their minds off things for a little while.
In this short scene: They make a commitment to
stay faithful to Christ even through the hardest things in life.

When using the word men in the King James Version of the Bible it's speaking of mankind.

Do You Love Him? June 13th, 2013

Do You Love Him?

Is Jesus on the thrown of your heart?
Is Jesus the reason you sing?
Is Jesus in the center of your home?
Is Jesus your everything?
For Jesus holds us through our troubles;
He comforts more than earthly friends.
Jesus will bind our hearts together;
When we have put full trust in Him.
He gathers the teardrops of our grief;
Just as a farmer gathers wheat.
For He cares more than anyone can;
And He prays at the mercy seat.
He loves you, much more than creation;
He loves you much more than a friend.
He loves you and it is forever;
The question is, do you love Him?

 John 21:15
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
John 21:16
He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
John 21:17
 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Treasures Worth More Than Gold - (Song) June 9th, 2013

Treasures Worth More Than Gold

God may not bless us with riches;
Here on the earth we live.
But we own the riches of heaven;
When we are one of His.
Treasures in heaven are gathered;
Treasures worth more than gold.
Because the treasures here on earth;
Will never compare to a soul.
Giving, living, loving, learning;
for eternities gain.
Not with motives of selfishness;
Like the motives of Cain.
If you were to gain the whole world;
And it's many treasures.
True happiness would not be found;
Not in earthly pleasure.
Because even in earthly gain;
A heart can feel empty.
Jesus is the only treasure;
That can fill our hearts need.

 Matthew 16:26
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
 Mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
 Luke 9:25
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

Real Love (Song) - June 6th, 2012 - Updated With New Poster - August 11th, 2014

Real Love

 Lord, fill my heart with your kind of love;
More than just lonely words.
Fill my lips with words of wisdom;
Where true love is heard.
Because I know without your love;
Nothing would ever be real.
Don't ever let my heart harden;
Nor bitterness be my will.
Real love ..
comes from the cross;
Real love..
 gives grace to the lost.
Real love..
 holds tightly to truth;
Real love..
 will give the good news.
Sometime in life, we question why;
Or life just passes us by.
Lord don't let me forget to love;
For the greatest gift is love.
Lord,  fill my life with opportunities;
And reveal  your love through me.
Within your will and purpose and plan;
Let real love flow through me.
Real love..
will always win.
Real love..
never seeks to sin.
Real love..
 will ceaselessly love;
for real love will always love.

Susan Y Nikitenko   June 6th, 2012
Though in this life, at times,  it seems real love has lost.
Each action or decision made in Christ, done in real love, will
last forever in the eyes of God and will come forth as gold in the end.

1John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another,
 God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Keep True To The Faith (Song)

  Keep True To The Faith

God commands us to be a light;
He commands we do what's right.
He wants us to live faithfully;
Living by faith and not by sight.
He sees the things that are unseen;
He knows our thoughts and where we've been.
He knows the lies of evil men;
His justice will be dealt to them.
He knows them, who are true to Him;
He teaches us to hate our sin.
He molds us into His image;
Guides us along life's pilgrimage.

Chorus:
Keep true to the faith;
Keep true to the fight.
We live in an age;
We must do what's right.
It's never too late;
To turn to the Lord.
Don't be discouraged;
Rejoice evermore.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
