Smoking Cigarettes June 25th, 2013

Smoking Cigarettes
Both of my parents were smokers and so were the majority of my family members.  I started smoking when I was a tween along with many other older teenagers.   I thought it was a very cool grownup thing to do.   I smoked until I was 27 years old.

When my baby was born I wouldn’t smoke in our house because I didn’t want my baby to be affected by breathing in cigarette smoke.  I went faithfully to church and even taught Sunday School as a smoker.  I smoked teaching only for about 6 months after I started teaching.   I was ashamed of smoking.  I tried hiding the fact that I smoked but it is something that is very hard to hide.  I didn’t lie about it I just didn’t tell anyone.
I remember praying numerous times to the Lord to help me stop, but still, I could not quit.  One day when my child became older she walked into the garage where I was smoking.  I knew that if I didn’t quit it would affect my child’s whole life.  That morning I prayed to the Lord. “ Lord, help me stop smoking because if you don’t Lord, I will smoke until the day I die.”   Like a miracle,  I never smoked again even to this day.  The one thing that helped me when I wanted a cigarette was the breathing exercises I learned from the birthing classes I attended before my daughter was born.   No one told me to do the breathing exercises to relieve the desire to smoke, I just did it and it helped.  I’ve shared with other people about this breathing exercise idea for helping smokers stop smoking for many years.   I know God delivered me from smoking but He also put in my heart to breathe if I felt an erg to smoke again.

A week after I was delivered from smoking I received a free carton of cigarettes in my mailbox.  I immediately ran water over the carton and threw it into the trashcan. I believed it was a temptation from satan.   That was over twenty years ago.

I thank God every day that I do not smoke because number one it stinks, number two it destroys belongings, and number three it makes people sick.  I can’t hardly tolerate being around smoking because it makes both me and my daughter feel sick and especially my daughter who sometimes has asthma attacks.

Sweet Dreams- - By: S. Y. Nikitenko

Sweet Dreams
By: Susan Y Nikitenko
2009 - Updated 2019

A little child reaches up;
For his mothers hold.
She puts him in her lap;
Her arms around him fold.

Comforted, “I love you, mommy.”
She says, “I love you too.”
“Now it’s time for beddie bye.”
“You know what you must do.”

He kneels beside his little bed.
“Mommy, you come down too.”
He folds His little hands;
He Prays until He’s through.

He climbs into His bed.
She tucks Him in real tight.
“Sweet Dreams, my little man.”
Then kisses him good night.

In peace now, from her love;
He drifts sweetly to sleep.
Mama humbly bows her knees;
And silently she weeps.

“Lord, I ask you bless my boy;
To grow, and be like you.”
“Give me, the grace to teach him,”
“How to live and love you too.”

“Spread angel’s wings about him.”
“Protect him from this world.”
“Keep him in your perfect plan;
Living by your Holy Sword.” (Bible)

Are you like a child in need?
Is Jesus Christ your Lord?
Do you need deliverance;
From the trappings of this world?

Is it hard for you to sleep?
Does your heart long for relief?
Father God will comfort you;
And bless with perfect peace.

Just as mother, swaddles child;
The Father (God) holds us tight.
He guides us through the shadows;
And protects us in the night.

He sends His angels near;
To catch our every tear.
And when we need a sense of love;
We sense His presence there.

“I love you, Lord.” You’ll say.
“I love you too.” You’ll hear.
Then in rest, you'll drift in sleep;
Your soul quiet, from all fear.

“Sweet dreams, my child, sweet dreams;”
“Rest now in my loving you.”
“I am your Father, you are my child;
"I will never- ever leave you;.”

Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.

Lord, help me to trust you more each day.

Lord, help me to love you more I pray.

Lord, lead me, to walk in your holy way.

Lord, strengthen my faith, help me not stray.

Lord, hide me behind the cross today.

His Mercy Is Calling

His Mercy Is Calling

God is a faithful God;
His love never ends.
God is a faithful God;
His mercy extends.

Patient and kind is He;
His Word stands so true.
He's constant to help us;
His grace always new.

His awesome creation;
continually glows.
That like a new morning;
His faithfulness shows.

As the new moon rises;
And the sun rays beam.
We know that His mercy;
Gives love and redeems.

As the waves crash forward;
From the sea to land.
We know that His mercy;
Has reached for our hand.

Come to me He bacons;
To the soul that cries.
His mercy is calling;
With love in His eyes.

Turn now to the Savoir;
Today is the day.
His mercy provides you;
Deliverance today.

Stand Still! - By: Susan Y Nikitenko

Stand Still!

Stand Still.

Oh, children of God.
See the work of His hands;
Amazing creations and lands.

Stand Still!

And know He is God.
Consider the heavens above.
In awe consider His love.

Stand Still!

Know you are heaven made.
Your hands, your eyes,
Your mind, your heart,
You, His miracle, human art.

Stand Still!

See how wonderful He is.
Perfect, Holy Lord;
Deliverer of the world.

Stand Still!

Worship and adore Him;
Our Redeemer, our Friend,
The Beginning, the End.

I now stand still.

I see you Lord.
I love you Lord.
I need you Lord.

In Worship;
I stand still.
