Through The Storm

The updated one is at the bottom

Through The Storm

The storm winds blew upon the trees;
Harshly they bowed from side to side.
The whipping rain came down with sound;
The lightning lit the darkened sky.

Our faith was tried, sometimes we cried;
We wondered if we'd make it through.
We held on tight, kept God in sight;
That's all we knew that we could do.

It's when we praised our God above;
We felt our Saviors loving hug.
It's when we called upon His name;
Our strength was found in His great love.

Oh, when the whist'ling swirling winds;
Came to a gentle, peaceful end.
We saw the sunlight shining through;
Instead of tears, God's joy again.

 Psalms 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour
is life: weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning.

Through The Storm

The cold winds blew upon the trees;
Harshly they turn from side to side.
The whipping rain came down with sound;
The lightning lit the darkened sky.

Our faith was tried, sometimes we cried;
We wondered if we'd make it through.
We held on tight, kept God in sight;
That's all we knew that we could do.

It's when we praised our God in faith;
We felt our Saviour’s loving hug.
It's when we called upon His name;
Our strength was found in His great love.

Oh, when the whistling swirling winds;
Came to a gentle, peaceful end.
We saw the sunlight shining through;
We felt safe and joyful again.

God is there with us in the storm.
God is with us in our sorrows.
God gives us faith through all our fears.
He gives us strength to face tomorrow.

As we keep our focus on Him.
As we place our burden on Him.
He renews right ambitions.
As we trust Him, as we love Him.

Even through the storm.
Even through the storm.

Inconveniences and Problems - Devotional

 Inconveniences and Problems

Sometimes things happen in our lives because God has something He wants us to learn in life.  One time years ago,  I went with a friend  to visit her parents.  On the way home, the car had over heated and we were able to get the problem resolved before we actually left her hometown.  I made this comment,  "Thank the Lord, this happened here before we got on the highway or we wouldn't be able to find water or a phone." At that time not many people had cell phones.  We certainly did not have one.
     While on the highway with no gas station or help in sight, the car overheated again and we started to pray because we thought we would be stranded.  We had to stop because the car was steaming.   Then was when I recalled my own words, "Thank the Lord this happened here before we got on the highway or we wouldn't be able to find water or a phone."
     We prayed not knowing exactly what we were going to do.  We were far away from home.  While we were looking around a car passed by and the person offered us the use their cell phone.  Then rejoicing, we noticed a puddle of fresh rainwater nearby.  We were able to find both a phone and water.
    I guess that God wanted me to know that He can supply our need wherever we are.. whether out in the middle of nowhere or right in our own backyard.
   God sometimes allows inconvenient things to happen in our lives so that we may receive a blessing from God's people.  Sometimes our inconvenience is the avenue in which God will shower his love upon the one who needs help, by the giving love of brothers and sisters in Christ.  God will love us through them.   Our inconvenience is sometimes a way for God to be glorified.
    One thing that I've learned through the years is to praise God even through difficult times and inconveniences.  While waiting upon the Lord, I've learned to praise him through the asking for help and provisions.  Choosing to be content is choosing to remain joyful while waiting for the Lord to answer our prayers and supply our need.  Sometimes God will use a person who has no idea there being used by God.  In this way God is also glorified.  It is in those times God will give an opportunity to speak to someone of God's grace.
     Many times inconveniences and problems are avenues in which God teaches us something wonderful about His love for us and also teaches us to love and rest in Him.

John 14:13
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

There Is Nothing - 2

There Is Nothing

 I have a Savior who is bigger than my problems:
'Cause His hands have made the galaxies.
There is nothing too big, there is  nothing too wide;
'Cause His hands have made the crystal seas.

If He can make a seed as tiny as can be;
Grow one day to be a forest tree.
Then I know He can lead me beside waters still.
Through all of this life's  calamity.

I have a Savior who is bigger than my problems:
'Cause when He speaks the night turns to day.
There is nothing too hard, there is nothing too great:
'Cause even the winds, His voice, obey.

If He can build our body with a beating heart;
Give us minds that create and plan.
Then surely through the struggles and heartaches of life;
Our Lord can give us grace to stand.

I have a Savior who is bigger than my problems;
'Cause His hands placed each star above.
There is nothing beyond, there is nothing to far:
'Cause  His hands have made all things in love.

If He can know our name and even know our frame:
Before we were formed within the womb.
Then surely He can form each hour in each day:
When within our day we give Him room.

Responding To Problems

Responding To Problems

 I know that everything that happens in life has a reason, but it's up to us how we respond.  There are things in life that happen that are very hard to get past.  I think of Joseph who went through a number of things that would be very hard to get over easily.   It must of been very hard being rejected by his brothers , who had shown no mercy at his cries when he cried from a pit in which they had thrown him.  Worst of all they took him and sold him into slavery and had not one drop of mercy as he looked back in tears.

I know it must of been very hard for Joseph to get past being accused of something he didn't do.  Especially because the accusation against him would harm his testimony as a Godly man.  Then to be thrown into prison for years and seemingly forgotten.  How he must of been tempted to become bitter at his situation. He must of spent many hours praying and wondering in his heart why.   Still he trusted and stayed faithful to God.

Then came the day  he became the "savior of the known world." God had blessed him with the unusual ability to know things through the interpretation of dreams.  He was blessed with the gift
even as a child.  The gift was one of the reasons his brothers hated him. His family did not believe him but the talent that God had given him would be used to save many people from starvation.  God had a greater purpose.

Now this story I'm about to tell  you may not seem to be as hard a thing to go through as what Joseph did,  but I know it is something  kids can learn from today.  When I was around seven or eight years old. I was an A student in my music class.  The school was having a Christmas program and I was in the bell choir.  I was all excited about it and ready to give it my all.  We stood up to perform our song and it was perfect as far as I can remember, but to my surprise, not a good surprise at all,  The boy behind me decided he wanted to move my chair from behind me.  The teacher motioned for us to all be seated and what happened?  I fell flat on my behind and bells were ringing everywhere.  Kids were angry at me for messing up the whole program.  They stood there laughing and some were mad.   The teacher pulled me aside and guess what,  She informed me my grade would be lowered  by one letter because of what someone else did to me.  Now I don't  remember what happened afterwards,  I'm sure I  was very heart broken, but I do know this.  When you get punished for something that someone else does  to you it's not something that you get over easily.

Through life we go through things sometimes, so that later on, we can help others who may be going through tough times.  We may have even been unjustly treated just as Joseph.    God has given us the story of Joseph as an example how to react to life's problems. In the story of Joseph,  He becomes a very powerful man over all of Egypt.  He even had the power to put people into prison, but Joseph also knew to show mercy as he was lead by God.  Joseph was a powerful man but He also was a very humble man because of everything God allowed him to go through.  He was able to react to those who treated him unjustly with love and forgiveness, but he also used caution in his choices.  He was prepared by His problems for a greater purpose.

When problems come along in your life, remember Joseph and learn from his choices.  God has a purpose for you and if you stay faithful he will bring you to that purpose and your eyes will be opened to the why, just as Joseph learned why.

Genesis 50:20
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Genesis 45:6-8
 For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.  And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

You Are Bigger

glitter-graphics.com

You Are Bigger

You are bigger than the problems we bear;
Your hand can heal -  your love erase.
You have promised great promises of hope;
To a nation that will seek your face.

You are bigger than the politician;
Your hand appoints or casteth out.
You have promised great promises of hope;
If we turn from sin and will not doubt.

You are bigger than our earthly judges;
Your hand can change a heart of stone.
You have promised great promises of hope;
If we worship you and you alone.

You are bigger than any battle odds;
You  hold all future purpose in your hands.
You have promised great promises of hope;
You can restore and heal our land.

The Master Jeweler

The Master Jeweler

by: Susan Y Nikitenko
2009

I am a precious jewel;
In my Saviors sight.
Once a stone, within the ground;
Shining now, in His light.

I was dead, hid from sight;
Love, it dug me out.
When my night was brought to light;
Angels praised and jumped about.

I am special in His hand;
A diamond, dingy, dark and dim,
And He is busy molding me;
Into a perfect, Holy Gem.

In this world of dirt and rock;
There lies hidden treasures, lost.
Busy now, He looks for them;
He bought them at the cross.

While He chips your dross away;
With pressure, in the fire.
Remember, He’s the master jeweler;
Your beauty, His desire.

So put yourself, in His hands;
And take His change, as love.
When others see you shining;
They’ll trust in Him, above.

He'll Move Your Mountain

He'll Move Your Mountain

(song) By: Susan Y Nikitenko
April 12th, 2011
It's faith that moves mountains.
It's faith that will please;
Our Father in heaven;
Who witnesses these;

A child that will love Him;
Who prays ev'ry day.
A father, a mother;
Who teach God's true way.

A tongue that will speak truth;
A heart that is right;
A longing to serve Him;
With all of our might.

Faith is the victory;
The old Hymns proclaim.
Our God has moved mountains;
And He's still the same.

The God of the Bible;
Moves mountains today;
For those who will trust Him;
And humbly obey.

He will move your mountain.
He will part the sea.
He'll answer from heaven;
Providing your need.

He cares for His children;
And He hears their cry.
Our Father of mercy ;
No doubt, will supply.

So don't get discouraged;
And keep to the test.
Tell Jesus your problem;
And He'll do what is best.
