God Speaks Of Himself Through His Creation

God Speaks Of Himself Through His Creation

 When I was a child about 7 yrs old,  my dad used to take us once in a while, to a little feed store that was in another small community.  I'm not sure why we were there or what all they sold there, but it may have been around the time that we were raising a pig. So it could of been that he was buying some supplies to put up a pig pen or maybe he needed some parts for his lawn mower.

  I obviously was not paying attention to what he was buying, because something else got my attention.  An incubator full of eggs hatching and baby chicks chirping, little baby chicks, so cute.  I found myself, even as a little girl, thinking about God.  I guess I wanted to understand God.  So while I looked down at the little chicks and the light bulb that kept them warm.  I thought of God.  I thought to myself, those little chicks are like people, though they weren't people.  I was comparing them to people.  I looked at the light bulb, I thought to myself,  that light bulb is like the sun that shines down and keeps us warm.  Then I thought to myself, Just like God watches over us,  I am watching over these little chicks.  God takes care of us, loves us and provides for us.

     The bible teaches us about God and is the number one resource, It is Holy and is inspired by God, but God also speaks of himself through nature.  Nature itself is a witness and testimony of a living creator who forms life from the dust of the ground, as He did with Adam and Eve.  God created all of creation from nothing and gave them the ability to reproduce, just like the little chicks in the eggs.

Thank the Lord God for speaking to our hearts through his creation, because it is through his creation that we may understanding Him more.

Changes In Life That Change Us

Changes In Life That Change Us

I was thinking today about my failure to use the right settings on my new camera lens.  Sometimes things happen that can cause us to look foolish.  Maybe that's one way to keep us humble.  It doesn't seem like a blessing when we have to go through a little failure.  Even if it is because someone caused you to fail by sabotaging something you might have had your heart set on.  Not to say, that's what happen to me in this case.  Sometimes when we are used to something, like my old camera lens, but trying out a new one, it takes some adjustment and practice until we are used to something new.

In football there are times kids have to say goodbye to one coach, and hello to a new coach.  It take's time to get used to the new coach.  Maybe he has a new style of coaching, but even so, you need to listen to your coach.

There are times change is needed and God will allow things in order to teach us something new.
None of us like to lose, but maybe, it will help us know how not to lose next time.

So sometimes failure could be a blessing in disguise.  There are times we just have to accept the fact that  there's just  some failures we cannot fix.  Those are the ones we have to put in God's hands and move on.  Learn from our mistakes.  Ask God to give us grace to keep going, keep giving our best and just plain trust Him.

These are things any establishment will at times go through, including a church.  It's hard to say goodbye to a pastor you love and say hello to a new pastor.  The new pastor will have new visions for the changing church.  He will need the love and patience of God's people.  He will need to know He does not have to compete with any other pastor.  He is the overseer.  He is the under shepherd and the mouthpiece that God uses through Christ.  He is to be prayed for, respected and honored, even if He's not perfect.  None of us will be perfect until the day we meet in heaven.  Part of honoring the pastor, is praying for his family consistently, honoring his wife with cooperation, in the ministry that God has given her.  She is helping her husband be successful in the ministry.  She is his help mate.  To dishonor her is to dishonor him.

No matter what we go through in life, win or lose, we have to hold onto this fact.  If we are indeed, in Christ Jesus, a saved individual, we will not lose in the end.  This is our blessed hope.  When we love God, by living for Him,  God will work out things in order to accomplish His will for us.  He does not start a work and not finish it.  He has begun a good work in you and He will perform it until the very end.  This is God's promise to his faithful children, to those who seek him, to those who love him.  He's not finished with us yet.

Just a Little Note -

Just a Little Note

My 75-year-old mother is very sick, she's been sick for a very long time.  She has lung disease from smoking, but no longer smokes. She also has c.o.p.d.and she coughs all the time.  Recently, she dropped her dentures on the ground while she was in the Walmart parking lot.  I'm not sure why she didn't have them in her mouth, but my stepfather, who is also been very sick, accidentally ran them over with their car.  She told me the cost for new dentures would be $1,100.00 dollars, but they have no insurance.  Please pray that they'll be able to get the dentures she needs as soon as possible.

Thank you for the prayers for our older daughter who broke her leg while we were on vacation.
She has been a real trooper.  She broke both her tibia and her fibula, and she had to get 10 screws put into her leg.  During the time she was healing, I consistently brought meals to her and her husband's home and helped with the house chores.  My other daughter and my son-in-law's mother also helped with the food and chores. The only things that didn't survive were her garden flowers.  I could not be there enough to keep them watered and they died. She is nearly recovered now, praise God.  The cast has been removed and she no longer is wearing the boot.  She's been able to walk, but still has a limp.  She is going through therapy until she is fully healed.

My daughter had her annual garage sale, which was made up of about 15 families.  She and my other daughter worked very hard with the organizing and pricing.  This kept my wounded daughter busy during her recovery from her broken leg.  By God's grace, they were able to have another successful year, even though the location of the sale was moved from my home to their home this year.  I helped on the inside of the home, preparing lunch and helping keep the house presentable, which is very hard to do when having a very large garage sale.  I also helped with the refolding of the clothes to keep them organized.  I didn't put very much in the sale.  I made about $100.00.  I'm thankful for our three men who helped lift and move things.  Both my daughters and myself were not to do excessive heavy lifting this year.

One good thing about having the garage sale every year is that the tithes go up at our church. Our people are faithful tithers thank the Lord   We have been blessed and have been able to support three missionary families on a regular basis.  Pray that God will continue to supply that need.

My younger daughter and her husband are pregnant with our first grandchild.  The baby had the hiccups last night.  It is the first movement that she has felt since the baby was conceived. I cried when I saw the baby's ultrasound, just feeling grateful for another little one in our lives.  We are calling the baby "Baby Bean" at this time, which is humorous because the baby actually jumped when getting his first ultrasound.  We are not sure if the baby is a girl or a boy, I hope we will know before the garage sales are over for this year.

What Would Love Do?

What Would Love Do?
Part 1

   I asked my neighbor if she minded me telling this story about their garden.  I wasn't trying to make anything happen in order to come up with some good story,  as a matter fact I have never tried to make something  happen in order to come up with a good example.  I wanted her to know my motives were not selfish at all, but my motives were genuine.

I noticed her husband poisoning the grass in their yard, but at that time I didn't know it was because he was planning on putting in a raised garden.  Then I noticed them planting the garden.  It was then that I realized he'd be planting food there. I became concerned whether or not it would be safe to eat.  I thought in my heart should I tell them what I think?  Then I decided I was just being a worry wart and that I should mind my own business.  They could of been using something, I was unaware of, to kill the grass that was safe and usable in a vegetable garden.

I guess a few weeks went by and the plants were growing.  Once again I was concerned the food might make them sick or kill them even.  I decided to look for information whether or not using "Round Up"  on the ground, when building a raise garden bed, was safe.  According to the information I read, using  poison like "Round Up" is not a safe thing to use when planting food.  I struggled with the idea of saying anything.  I didn't want to cause any problems with my neighbors.

Then I had to ask myself, "What would love do?"  "Would love just keep silent, if  it meant something could hurt our neighbors?  The bible says, "Perfect love casteth out all fear."  I decided the right thing to do was to share my concerns with my neighbor, because love would warn them.

 When the opportunity came I asked my neighbor if I could ask her a question?  I made it clear that I wasn't trying to be a nosey neighbor, but the reason I was asking the question is because I care about them.  I was concerned for their health and well being.  I then proceeded to ask what kind of poison they used on the grass.  She told me they used Round Up.  I told her what I believed to be true, that the food might not be safe to eat.

I didn't have to tell them, but how could I live with myself knowing something could hurt them and not say anything.  To find out later that one of them or both of them were to become sick or die.  I would grieve miserably.  The same way spiritually, I could just stand by, never tell them that there is danger for the person who dies without Jesus.  That there is a heaven and a hell and we will go one of two places when we die.  There's no turning back then.

Though these words might not be exactly the words that I used, this was pretty much the gist of what I said...  I asked if she would at least go online and check things out for herself and she said that she would.

Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Looking Towards The Morning Sun - Devotional

Looking In Our Hearts Up To God

1 Peter 1:8
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Psalms 5:3

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.  (David may be bowing his head to pray but in his heart he's looking up.)

Looking Towards The Morning Sun - Devotional

Our new neighbors planted some sunflowers in their garden this year.  Some of them seem to be facing our house so I get to enjoy them.  I love sunflowers, I decorate my kitchen with roosters, chickens and sunflowers.

Most of the flowers I plant do not face one way, but there is one in my garden that does.  My neighbor's sunflowers face the morning sun, and my gladiolas do too.  My "glads" didn't do so well this year, but when they do they face the morning sun.  When I notice these flowers facing our house, I know it has nothing to do with our house, it has to do with what's behind us.  The sun is behind us.
Sometimes I see the sunflowers bowing their heads as though they are praying.. but we do not have to bow our heads to pray we can pray to the Lord where ever we are.   When we are looking towards Jesus in our hearts and following the light of his Word.  We will seek the Lord in prayer.

Psalms 5:3
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.  (David may be bowing his head to pray but in his heart he's looking up.)

The bible tells us to seek the Lord in the morning... When I see my "glads' facing the morning sun.  I remember I should be glad in the Lord.  Rejoicing and praising God as soon as possible and making my requests known is a very imporatant part of my day.   Maybe God gave us flowers that face one way to tell us something.  God created things the way they are for a reason.   Maybe these are reminders that Jesus is the only place to look.

The bible teaches us that Jesus - IS The WAY, The TRUTH, The LIFE.  and that no one can have a relationship with God without him.   There are many religions in this world but Jesus is the only WAY to heaven according to the bible.  God tells us not to worship other Gods because they are false and will lead you into  death everlasting.  Which is also called Hell.

I think it would be very strange to see a whole garden of sunflowers facing the sun, to see one turn it's back to the sun.  When people consider other religions, other than the Truth Of God's Word.  (They are looking the wrong WAY.)

Sometimes people are looking for happiness in lots of different places... some people go out and party, drinking alcohol, doing some drugs... anything their heart desires.  (They are looking the wrong WAY.)

The bible teaches that sin brings pleasure for a season and it does, but soon the heart becomes grieved, bitter and trapped.  Then you think God will never forgive you.  Real happiness is not found in those things.  It can bring an evil joy in your heart and also a love of sin,  But God has a holy joy for us that causes us to rejoice over Him... We rejoice over God's Son...He is where to LOOK.  He is the Way to joy unspeakable.

 1Peter 1:8
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:  (Looking To Him In Our Hearts.)

What if God's people were sunflowers?  We would go to church on Sunday to look to God in our hearts.  Looking at a preacher not because He's the preacher, but because He's speaking for the God who is behind Him.  We are looking toward the Son of God.  To lead us and direct our path.  In agreement all looking  the same direction in unity.  But sometimes one or two might be looking the wrong way.

I remember something from years ago my daughter had shared with me.  My daughter and her friend were out driving and they went out the wrong exit  while leaving a store.  A foreign lady rolled down her window and with broken English said these words, " Yourlll, going, the wrllllong way!"   For weeks for some reason, I have no idea why, we would repeat what she said with the same accent.  " Yourlll, going, the wrllllong way!"

Hopefully our motives as Christians are first to please God, looking to be led by God, and longing to be used by God.  The only way for that to be a reality is to be going the right way.
There are those that have never looked Jesus' way.  They only see what they have been taught and blind to the Truth.  They are going the Wong Way.  Our prayer today is that they will (Look towards the SON)...the Son of God.  The hope of salvation to all who will believe and accept that Jesus is the only way of salvation.   He is the WAY.

Jesus Is My Greatest Treasure

Jesus Is My Greatest Treasure

Jesus is my greatest treasure;
For nothing compares in measure;
To the joy that He gives to me;

He's my hope and my salvation;
He's my heart's illumination.
He's more than anything (more than anything) to me.

He's  the comfort through my sorrow;
He's my today and my tomorrow.
Jesus is, my eternity.

There's no doubt because it's true;
He loves me and he loves you too.
Because His love flows from sea to sea.

He gave his life, laughed at and scorned,
Beaten, died , tormented and torn,
He shed His blood willingly.

He's God's only begotten son
Precious, perfect, Holy one.
He arose and has saved me.

Jesus is my greatest treasure;
For nothing compares in measure;
To the kind of love He gave to me.

He's God's only begotten son
Precious, perfect, Holy one.
Spotless lamb God of Calvary.

1 Peter 1:18-21
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Through The Storm

The updated one is at the bottom

corrections made

Through The Storm

The storm winds blew upon the trees;
Harshly they bowed from side to side.
The whipping rain came down with sound;
The lightning lit the darkened sky.

Our faith was tried, sometimes we cried;
We wondered if we'd make it through.
We held on tight, kept God in sight;
That's all we knew that we could do.

It's when we praised our God above;
We felt our Saviors loving hug.
It's when we called upon His name;
Our strength was found in His great love.

Oh, when the whist'ling swirling winds;
Came to a gentle, peaceful end.
We saw the sunlight shining through;
Instead of tears, God's joy again.

 Psalms 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour
is life: weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning.

Through The Storm

The cold winds blew upon the trees;
Harshly they turn from side to side.
The whipping rain came down with sound;
The lightning lit the darkened sky.

Our faith was tried, sometimes we cried;
We wondered if we'd make it through.
We held on tight, kept God in sight;
That's all we knew that we could do.

It's when we praised our God in faith;
We felt our Saviour’s loving hug.
It's when we called upon His name;
Our strength was found in His great love.

Oh, when the whistling swirling winds;
Came to a gentle, peaceful end.
We saw the sunlight shining through;
We felt safe and joyful again.

God is there with us in the storm.
God is with us in our sorrows.
God gives us faith through all our fears.
He gives us strength to face tomorrow.

As we keep our focus on Him.
As we place our burden on Him.
He renews right ambitions.
As we trust Him, as we love Him.

Even through the storm.
Even through the storm.
