Fred

Fred

My daughter and her husband bought a new house.  An  old calico cat, that was cared for by the former owners of the home, was left  behind.  As far as we know, the cat didn't have a name.  She's a very pretty cat.  She was very skittish and would not come to anyone at first.  Slowly the cat has warmed up to them.  The cat wouldn't come into the house even when it was very cold outside.   She wanted attention but she wouldn't let anyone near her.  She would bang on the window with her paw and meow loudly but when they'd  go to pet  her, she would run away.
When my daughter and her husband were deciding upon a name for the cat.  They thought of a tenant they knew while they were managing and cleaning apartments.  The man was deaf and he used to bang on the door and yell loudly when He wanted to communicate with them.  The man's name was Fred.  The cat reminded them of Fred so they named her Fred.
On one very cold night my daughter found Fred covered in snow.  She looked like a large snowball nearly frozen.  Fred had no problem with coming into the house that night.  She's been coming in and going out every since that night.  She has officially been adopted and has been a joy to them and to me too.
Every week I hear a new story about Fred.  Fred didn't like her feet getting wet as she crossed the newly cleaned kitchen floor. She pounced from dry spot to dry spot with a little meow every time her paw got wet.  She just doesn't like getting her feet wet.  Fred killed a chipmunk and ate everything except the nose and whiskers.   Fred killed a giant squirrel and left it at the front door, a gift for my daughter no doubt.  Fred likes to go over and get the dog next door all stirred up, as if to say..Na-na-na-na-na-na.   You're all tied up and I'm as free as can be.  Fred likes to wake everyone up and throws a fit when the alarm goes off.
God has blessed us with another little member of the family....Fred.   Thank- you Lord,  for Fred.
