Just A Few Random Thoughts Today

Just A Few  Random Thoughts Today

I woke up this morning looking out my window.  I opened my eyes to see a beautiful reddish pink sky. There is an old saying that instantly came to my mind.  Whether it be an old wives tale I do not know.  The saying goes like this and may be commonly known by many.

"Red in the morning sailors warning.  Red at night sailors delight."
My thoughts  are that if we see the red sky in the morning we should be alerted to bad weather  approaching.

Now as I look out my window I see a beautiful sun shining day and I'm telling myself  I  need to get out and walk and try avoiding any more extra fluff .    After our Thanksgiving meal  yesterday.  I have decided to start my New Year's resolution early.

I've done some extra setting lately because of sewing and I don't want the fluff  to take me over.

  You know,  life at my age has taught me many things and one of them is about losing weight and gaining it back.  You start out as an hour glass. Then one day you figure out you're a pear.  Then you lose weight and regain your hour glass shape, then you gain back and you're a pear  again. This process goes on like this .. hour glass, pear, hour glass, pear, hour glass, pear,  PUMPKIN.    For the first time you're a  pumpkin.  Well just to let you know I'm very close to the pumpkin stage and it's very hard to change after you get there.

This was the closest illustration I could think of if I were to compare myself to a pumpkin.  Especially when I'm all dressed up in orange to go to a Massillon Tiger Game.  If I were to go to a game on Halloween night- all  I'd have to do is put on orange and it's an instant costume.... A  PUMPKIN.

Someone said to me just tonight winning happens with little gains... and my response was sometimes  losing comes with little gains too.  If it's gaining weight back a little bit at a time -  In this case I would rather lose than gain.

You Don't Wanna Go There

You Don't Wanna  Go There

You don't wanna  go there,
Don't wanna  go there;
Sin will take you farther than you want to go.

You don't wanna  go there,
Don't wanna go there;
Sin's price is much greater that you want to know.

Waiting to take your foot;
In the spider's snare.
Sin will trap you in its lies, sometimes by surprise.

You don't wanna  go there,
Don't wanna go there;
Hurry, block those eyes, lovin' sin is not wise.

It will wrap you tightly;
It will suck you dry.
Hurry, resist and run, cause the devil is sly.

'Cause The devil's delight;
Is to watch you fight.
When you're already strung up in His lies.

You don't wanna  go there,
Don't wanna  go there;
Regrets  and sorrows  will be your tomorrows.

A very sticky web;
Awaits the wandering one.
Sin will take you farther than you want to go.

Jeremiah 5:26
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

Dying Without The Light - updated

Dying Without The Light

This past October I decided for the first time to carve some pumpkins.  Now last year my son in law and daughter carved the pumpkin for the  "Pumpkin With A Purpose Lesson", that I wrote last year, but we only used it in the classroom.

I had around eight pumpkins.  I  was thinking how  pretty they would look all lit up with
 the gospel message shining through.  Talk about scaring some devils away. - he he
Anyway, we carved six of the pumpkins and set them outside awaiting the day to light them.

We apparently had carved them too soon and the weather got warm and they slowly started to fade away.  My husband and I were the only ones here.   I have no little children here to enjoy them anymore.  We never have any trick or treaters, though we normally buy candy just in case.  So the pumpkins  just sat out  there and died without any light.  They said nice things like, Jesus loves you  and even had a cross, but there was absolutely no light on the inside.

This reminds me of people who have trusted in the wrong things for salvation.  The bible talks about them.
Like the people who will say  " Lord, Lord I've done many wonderful work in your name".  I'm sure they did many wonderful works even gave to the poor and the needy.  Those things are all great things to do
but there's only one way to heaven.  God's not going to open heaven's gate to one who has trusted his own good works to get him there.  I must also say though,  good works will be the fruit of a true believer in Christ.  Jesus said himself ,we shall know them by their fruit.

There are many people who wear a cross and even tell others Jesus loves them, but the question is do they have a light on... on the inside themselves.  Have they ever really trusted in the right things for salvation? Without Christ living and dwelling in our hearts we would be religious, but we wouldn't  be saved.  We wouldn't have any light.

There are many people who are like those pumpkins outside that never got lit.  They die thinking  " I think I've lived good enough to make it to heaven", but they never were lit up on the inside.  They never trusted Christ alone for salvation.  They were really good people, seemingly perfect, but it's not the right way....yes even for a true believer,  we know Christ tells us there is coming a day when every man's work  (man and woman) will be tried by fire.  Then we shall know what manner of work it was.  but for an unbeliever his works were never done in the power of Christ.  He never had a light.

We as Christians need to be sharing the gospel light,  that others may believe and receive the gospel message and in turn be a light in a dark place.

Matthew 7:22-23
 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

1 Corinthians  3:13
 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Roman 1:16
 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

"What Is That?" - Just A Little Note From My Past

Just A Little Note From My Past

"What Is That?"

When I was a preteen, my sister, my cousin and I had just turned the lights out to go to bed.  When suddenly we could hear something flying around the room.  "What Is That?"  One of us yelled.
We were scared and I started calling out to my dad, but he was sleeping and would not answer, so I called out to my brother and he too was sleeping, so no help came.  I laid there frightened along with my sister and cousin.  We wouldn't so much as raise one of our hands  into the air.  It didn't sound like a fly or a mosquito.  We knew it couldn't of even been an unusually large mosquito.  Whatever it was it was big.  So I finally decided something had to be done.  Whatever it was - we were afraid it could come down upon us at any moment.  So I came up with a plan to get to the light switch.  No standing was required until I could make it to the wall that had the light switch.   I slithered to the bottom of the bed, pulled the sheet loose at the bottom and slipped down closely to the bed,  onto the floor, then slid across our hardwood flooring and slid up the wall to flip  the light switch.  As soon as the light came on,  the flying whatever instantly was not flying and was completely hidden from sight.   My dad was finally awakened from all the excitement. We were far from quiet, believe me!  We looked everywhere, but where could it be?  My dad pulled back one of our curtains and there it was.  It was looking at us, making a noise and it had sharp teeth.  It was a brown mean looking bat.  It wasn't as big as we thought it would be, but it was still scary and we didn't want to get bit by it either.

My dad captured the bat by letting it drop into a paper bag.  We giggled while getting back into bed and finally we were able to sleep without fear for the rest of the night.

Thought: The bat liked darkness rather than light.

Thought: Sometimes we can't see the danger but we know it's there.

Thought: Sometimes things are hidden, but in time are found.

Scripture:
1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.  (motives)

. Sin
. deeds
. motives
. God will judge

The Spiritual Monster Mash - Theme

This Is A Wonderful Idea The Lord Gave Me This Morning To Go With The Halloween Poem I Wrote - The Spiritual Monster Mash.  Check Out My Other Fall Poem Ideas For Fall.

Resisting Sin

The Spiritual Monster Mash

 Lord, give me feet, gospel feet.
That smash the monsters in life;
A spiritual monster mash;
Mashing envy, mashing strife.

I'll  mash and smash out anger;
I'll defeat the giant foe.
As long as you go with me, Lord;
I'll mash them as I go.

The spiritual monster mash;
With my shield and sword in hand.
And my big, big gospel feet;
O, Lord, Give me grace to stand.

I'll do the mash!
The spiritual monster mash.
I'll do the mash!
I'll have a sin stompin', splash.

I'll have to eat properly;
                    Eat lots of wheaty Holy Meat.   (The Word)
Drink lots of prayer power aid;
While working out my mashing feet.

I'll mash out discontentment;
And mash out the prideful thought.
All you ugly monsters run!
You don't want to get caught.

I will mash and I will smash you;
With my big, big mashing feet.
With Jesus as my muscle;
I've got all you monsters beat!

The spiritual, monster mash;
Stomp, stomp, mash, bash, crash!
I'll put those monsters to an end:
Doing  the spiritual..... monster mash;

I'll do the mash!
The spiritual monster mash.
I'll do the mash!
I'll have a sin stompin', splash.
