A Hungry Bear

A Hungry Bear

When I was growin' up, even though I lived in the hills of W.Va, I never saw a bear roamin' around anywhere.  I might of heard a story or two about one, or saw one on TV but never where I grew up.  My mother told me just the other day, she saw a bear.  Her guestimation , he was a big one about 400 pounds.   He was hungry apparently because he had drug their storage container out into the driveway, ripped it open somehow, sat on his rear end and filled up on bird seed.  My mother told me she watched him sit there for along time.  She said, she wasn't about to go out there and shew him away.  She said he could have all the bird seed He wanted because she wasn't goin' to be tryin' to run off some 400 pound bear.

Most people know to respect a bear, because he is a powerful animal and you don't want to make one mad.
None of us would go out and fight some bear under normal circumstances.  We would avoid it at all costs. In old shows on TV you might see Daniel Boone shoot off his gun to chase off a bear, or if you live out in the boonies somewhere.

I thought of David from scripture, He killed a bear.  It wasn't over eating honey, It wasn't over eating birdseed..... When was it a right time the fight a bear?  when the bear was a danger to the sheep. David,by the power of God, was able to kill a bear with his bare hands.

Sometimes we have to fight things bigger than we are.  Things that under normal circumstances we would avoid.  There is a right time to fight and a right time to avoid fighting.  Fighting for what is right may not require killing a bear like David did, but standing up for what it right when it is very hard to.

Pointing Fingers

Pointing Fingers

There will always be people pointing fingers;
At somethin' someone else needs to change.
But every time you point your bony finger;
When three point back, don't think it is strange.

While someone suffers wrongly because of you;
Pointing where, pointing should not be.
Remember God sees the inside of you;
He will judge you, just as harshly.

The fear of the Lord is the start of wisdom;
His judgement will fall where it may.
With the same judgement, whether of hate or love;
That same judgement, you'll face one day.

Matthew 7:2 KJV

This is a song about judging others wrongly.  God hates sin and He wants us all to change in someway. It does not give us the opportunity to treat other people badly who need changed. We must pray for them and love them and ask God to change them but most of all we need to change ourselves.  It's about the attitude of the heart, even if we have to withdraw.
