Sometimes It's Hard to Feel Thankful
Sometimes it's hard to feel thankful especially when we know injustice towards good has taken the lives of just people or when injustice has caused grief where happiness was flourishing, but as Christians we know to fail to praise God would be like holding up a surrendering flag to the enemy. I think of the actions of Job who did not surrender in his heart to Satans' temptation of bitterness towards God.
Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Job had great loss, the death of his children in tragedy and abandonment of his wife through the great health problems that had befallen him. He had no one, even his friends judged him wrongly and were not true friends, but yet Job blessed the Lord. He did not surrender to bitterness towards God, but rather continued to believe in the goodness of God. His faith was tried and He remained faithful.
God blessed Job after the worst tragedy of his life had become the past and Job learned to live again. God blessed Job more at the later part of His life than He had before tragedy hit his life. God gave him another wife, more children and more riches. He continued to trust God and to dream again after losing all His dreams.
Job is one of the greatest examples of praise to the Lord in scriptures... even through great suffering He blessed the name of the Lord and did not curse the Lord God. God was moved to bless Job more at the ending of his life than His beginning.
